Emergency surgery!

Well it is Wednesday and therefore time for WOYWW. Most unusually for me this week my desk is full of sewing things..this is because Alex's teddy is in need of some emergency surgery.  His teddy is his favourite toy and he needs to cuddle it in order to get to sleep at night. Teddy was knitted by one of my Gran's friends, who was 100 at the time and has now passed on so we cannot get another one.  He has had a lot of love and abuse since Alex was born and now looks more like roadkill than anything else having lost a lot of stuffing and been patched up more times than I care to remember. Today's surgery involves sewing around his arm and shoulder before his arm falls off! Also on my desk you can see my Christmas stamps, my trusty mug of tea (essential for keeping me calm while sewing...I hate sewing a LOT), and my two most recent Christmas cards.
This is the first of the cards which I am entering into this weeks Less is More 'stars' challenge.  This card uses the free stamp from this months Crafty Stamper and free papers from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine as well as silver pen and some bling.  As a result I am also entering this into PTW 'anything goes with sparkle and bling' and Fussy and Fancy 'black, border punch and bling' (I used black ink for the stamping and a border punch for the scalloped edge).
The other Christmas card uses a cuttlebug embossing folder  and Crafty individuals stamp which I have coloured using promarkers.  Very quick and simple! I am entering this one into Stamptacular's 'borders and frames', and Pollycrafts 'anything goes' challenges. That is all from me for now. Have a great rest of the week everyone.
Love,
Caro

Oh the aggers of surgery on the best loved toy...or daring to wash it.. I remember it well. Not as much as the guilt of being unable to wash or repair it though, so consider your stitching a real labour of love and it won't be so bad!

Oh my heart aches for the poor teddy and I know how important it is for Alex. We had to search the net to get a standby Baxter for my little grandee in Germany, who has leukaemia, so it could be washed frequently (due to her lack of immunity) and it was Twiglet who so kindly found one for us. It took a lot of washing before she accepted the stand in and now he is Big Baxter as he hasn't shrunk as much as Baxter No 1.
Love your artwork,

Poor bear, he obviously has been loved to death!! The Big O had a snowman that he wouldn't be parted from - it's still around somewhere and my son's 18!!
Great Christmas cards, loved the first one especially :)

LOL, I had to smile about the surgery for Teddy, poor thing. I still have a stuffed toy from when I was a baby (over 40 years ago) and it has been stiched and restitched to keep it alive. Like the cards and I admire your 'less is more' theme. I wish I could do that, but I seem to be a 'more is more, and then some more' kind of person.

Oh poor teddy ... but what memories your photo' has brought back. I knitted a red teddy (forever known as RedTed) at junior school and loved him to bits ... until I came home from school one day and saw that mommy had performed surgery on him after he was ravaged by the pet Corgi! Still have my beloved RedTed (I'm now 51!!!!!) and he still bears the scars ... mommy was no plastic surgeon! Debbie #77
