Mary & Joseph come to visit! (WOYWW)

At church we have a little set of wooden figures; Mary, Joseph and their donkey, and throughout Advent they are travelling to different families, one each day, and it is our turn to host them.  Alex was so excited to go round to his friend Jacob's house to collect them and then to play with them at home where they are sleeping the night in his room before going onto a new family tomorrow. I'm not sure that a trip on a pirate ship was what the leaders at church had in mind when they suggested this, but there you go!
This is my desk as it was yesterday morning, no room for me to sit...Alex was busy making a decoration for his junk model tree out of Tim Holtz cogs.
Here is the completed tree with the decorated cog set at the top like a star, and a present underneith.  Perfect combination in my humble opinion!
This is my desk as Alex left it for my WOYWW entry...covered in bits and pieces with the cuttlebug to the left, some stamps that he was interested in besides it, the cog die that he used and my berol pens along with the piece of paper that was used to protect my desk.  My mug is there ready for me to drink while tidying up the mess ready for work (I work from home on Tuesdays).  My desk today is rather empty and boring hence me showing the mess Alex made with it instead.
I have also been busy with my Faith book and this double page spread was based on an evening I went to at Ecclesall Church last week.  I finally managed to journal it.  The evening was all about using scripture and God's word to protect your mind from all those negative thoughts that creep in, in essence about taking every thought captive.  There was an activity that we did with umbrella's hence the computer graphics I generated for the left-hand page and the righthand page contains my thoughts and some illustrated scriptures.
I have pretty much finished with Christmas preparations (apart from wrapping presents) but I did need a couple more cards so here is a quick and simple Christmas card I made using Cosmo Cricket paper and a little wooden snowman.  The paper is red and a pale green (not the usual bright green) so I am entering this into Kaboodle Doodles 'use the colour red', CCC 'Merry Christmas' and Speedy the Fox and friends 'red & green' challenges.
That is all from me for now.  Have a great rest of the week everyone.
Love,
Caro

I think his tree is great, needs some tinsel and then it is completed. Ah the pleasures of the children at this festive time of year. I hope he enjoys his sleepover.

Happy WOYWW

That little guy has got real creativity. Love it!
What a lovely tradition to share care of the nativity figures.. it must make it so special and important for the little ones to keep them a while and think about the real meaning of Christmas.
Love your card too.

Way to go Alex! He did an awesome job - the scale of the tree is perfect and the cog makes a great star. Children do have a way of seeing things 'out of the box' - wish I still had that sometimes...
Cute cards too :D

Your desk is a fountain of awesome projects. Alex definitely is a creative child! Love his tree and his play with the figures. I will be moving more of the craft room this weekend and will hopefully find the pumpkin then to send to you!!!! Probably over it by now but you will have it for next year! I had a great time on my cruise but now I am so feeling the crunch of the holiday season. I plan on getting the tree and decorations up by Friday and leaving them till...?? I hope you have your holiday plans more in control then I do! Thanks for visiting my desk and leaving such a nice comment! Have a great week! Vickie #3

I am sure that Mary and Joseph will thoroughly enjoy the new experience of the pirate ship, and be none the worse for it. Thank you for your visit today. I am still doing cards, still buying pressies and haven't done any wrapping yet, nor made the mince pies. Next week, the cake has to be marzipaned and then iced (always a snow scene as I don't do flat icing). A few sleepless nights needed I think. Hope all goes well for you in spite of the washing machine. xx Maggie #33

Marvellous! Does Tim know just how useful his cogs are I wonder? I'm on my phone at the moment but will come back to look at your journal tomorrow. Chris#81

I love that your church allows the children's nativity set to visit different families! What a great idea!

Your faith book is so inspiring-- thank you for sharing a picture of that!

Happy Wednesday,

It's great that you share your desk with your son, if only more people encouraged the small people to craft, the world would be a much brighter place. I really like the wooden snowman you used on your card. Thanks for sharing! Lucy #16 x

That tree is great and I really dont think that Mary and Joseph minded a ride on a pirate ship.
