WOYWW 508

It is Wednesday and time for Julia's weekly blog and desk hop known as 'What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday' or WOYWW.
My desk is neat and tidy as I am getting my journal up to date so only pens, the book, my miniprinter etc are in use.  The rest are detritus from being away (medication, kindle, audio CDs etc) and my usual large (pint) mug of tea!

We were down in Somerset last week visiting my mum and the weather was incredible - we spent most of the time outside helping to prune roses etc, going for lovely walks, and enjoying the spring flowers and unseasonably warm weather. The photo above is of Mum, my brother and me and her three grandchildren.
We also got to see Gran who has definitely turned a corner and is doing much better - she is now working on her stamina so that she can walk with more confidence and further.  It is managing doors, with her walker that is proving the challenge. Needless to say Alex loved being with his cousins and the three of them had fun den building in the hedge.
That is all from me for now.  Have a great week everyone.  Take care,
With love and God Bless,
Caro

WOYWW 506!

How did it get to be Wednesday already?  I guess it means that it is time to show you my desk as part of the wonderful world wide desk hop that is WOYWW (see Julia’sblog for further details)
On my desk at the moment are my bullet journal (at the back), my prayer journal and one of my Bibles (I do have loads!), and a form I need to fill in before my MRI scan on Friday – nothing serious, just some niggles that need sorting. You can also see a stencil that hasn’t been put away.  I am currently in the process of service planning for the evening service on Sunday and seeking inspiration.
Last week I mentioned that I was acting in a murder mystery.  Well here I am in my costume dressed as Wendy Beaumont the substitute vicar – it turned out I was a complete fake, I was actually a cleaner and turned out to be the murderer!  It was one of those evenings where the acts of the play were interspersed with food, and then at the end the audience had to decide who was the murderer, and then finally I had to do a monologue interspersed with some questions from angels to explain that it was me and why.  The play was actually written by a retired vicar so had a strong Christian message at the end of it.  It went down very well and was great fun to do.
In other news Gran is home!  We still need to persuade her to walk further but at least she is back at home with a care package in place. I wont be here next week as I will be down in Somerset visiting her and Mum over half-term.
Have a great couple of weeks everyone
With love and God Bless,
Caro

WOYWW 505

Welcome to the Wednesday desk hop hosted by Julia.
My desk this week has actually seen some action - although sadly only on one day because I have been busy rehearsing for the murder mystery play this weekend.  We are putting it on as a church social and it should be really good fun - I am playing the part of the substitute vicar. Here I am in the middle of messing with paints in my journal, with the paints, pain pens, water jar, and my faithful mug of tea all in evidence on the desk
The idea behind this was to not have a plan just to mess around with different simple marks and practice my brush work because I always make a mess when trying to do neat brushing.  It was a very therapeutic 45 minutes just sat painting with no plan and netflix on in the background.
The other fun from this week was the fact that Alex and I bought an Ikea shark, which he named Bill.  Bill has made himself very comfortable around the house and provided much fun and entertainment to us both.  Gran is still in respite but is now at last having some decent physio... the only real thing stopping her from going home now is fear so hopefully she will make the decision to go home soon.
Thanks for visiting.  Take care this week.
With love and God Bless,
Caro
