WOYWW 573

I can't believe that another week has flown by since the 11th Anniversary of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Don't know what I am talking about?  Then check out Julia's blog as she is our head desker!

Here is my desk as it was last night having made a quick, clean and simple card for the family who have just moved into the rented accommodation next door. You can see my cuttlebug, a fresh mug of tea, some crayons, stamps, and pens.
I forgot to take a photo of the card, so here is another clean and simple card made for my 16 year old nephew who is a gamer - hence the theme!
The only other bit of crafting I have done this week was a page in my Bible illustrating one of the lesser prophets. I have been suffering from a lack of mojo, hence very simple.
The other main activity of this past week, in addition to work, has been wild swimming.

I wouldn't normally start wild swimming so early in the year, but needs must! I cannot begin to explain how good it has been for my mental health even though the water temperature is around 12oC.
Alex has enjoyed it too - unlike me he is in a wetsuit - but mostly because he has been treasure hunting.  In fact he has loved it so much we have been 4 times this week.
This is some of his 'Treasure'. Believe me when I say there is LOADS more!! The fact that Alex is unlikely to go back to school until September is a bit daunting to us both (it is hard work getting Alex to do school work while trying to work full-time myself), so I have to have hope in God's love, strength and support through this.

WOYWW 572 - Happy 11th Anniversary!

Today is the 11th Anniversary of the kindest, most loving blog hop in the world, run by the gorgeous Julia (see her blog for details). I first joined in just after the 1st anniversary, then took about a 4 year break in the middle due to life stresses and joined back again 2 years ago. It is lovely to see how many people are still in touch from the beginning. Happy Anniversary everyone!
So here is my desk on this anniversary day...Sadly all set up for work as I am marking all day today - final year undergraduate exams.
This is how my desk was on Monday evening - in the midst of creating some pocket pages - a complete mess.  The one constant between the two is a large mug of tea!  On this you can also see the pages I am working on, various cards, embellishments, stickers, additional photos, and my ipad sticking up at the back.
Now, onto the challenge that we were set for this anniversary.  This was to complete an unfinished object or UFO.  Now, I don't really have many of these as I tend to have a variety of long standing works in progress (art journals, bible journaling, weekly journal etc) and the one I thought I hadn't finished from years ago, it turned out I had completed! However, a few weeks ago Alex decided that he wanted me to teach him how to finger knit a beanie hat and in order to do that I had to make one alongside him.  Once he realised how fiddly it was he gave up on the idea and my blue wool sat abandoned with a small amount of knitting on it. So this was the UFO project I decided to complete.
Anyone who knows me will know that thread, wool etc is NOT my forte, but I persevered and while watching 'Cats' and other television shows I completed this little beanie hat.

It could probably have done with another layer of knitting on the bottom but for a first attempt I am quite pleased with it - although I am not sure it suits me!

My other UFO is still a WIP - it is my pocket page scrapbook.  I was given the things to do this about 2 years ago, and printed all the photos out at Christmas but have done so little on it.  So this past week I have spent some time moving the project forward.

These are the pages I have completed this week so have definitely moved the project onward!  It is more complicated than I imagined as most of the photos are of the wrong orientation making it difficult to put pages together in chronological order etc. It is partly what stopped me doing it for so long, but I am determined to complete 2019 photos in the end.

I will finish this rather long post with a few photos of our recent walks in our neighbourhood, including some goslings (can you spot them!), and a reasonably close encounter with a heron!

Happy Anniversary everyone, Stay safe and take care,
With love and God Bless

WOYWW 571

Hello and welcome back to another edition of lockdown What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  Don't know what I am talking about?  Then head over to head desker Julia to find out more...
Here is my desk as it was on Monday evening in the midst of making a Birthday Card for my Mum.  She prefers clean and simple designs so I masked a card and sponged distress ink onto the background before stamping the images and words on.  On my desk you can see stamps, distress inks, and my enormous Scooby Doo mug (it holds a litre of tea).
Here is the finished card.

This week's creativity has involved starting work on a long standing WIP for the Anniversary next week so I wont show that yet. Instead I thought I would show you the other creative thing I have been doing; re-creating famous pieces of artwork with things around the house. The Teddy with the Pearl earring and the Kandinsky are my favourites.

I will leave you with some different walk pictures this week - I drove about 3 miles from our house to enable us to do this 5 mile walk up from Redmires Reservoirs to Stanage Edge.  It was wonderful to be out on the edge again even though it was rather windy!
I really hope that you all stay safe and well and have a good week. You are all in my thoughts and prayers regularly.
With love & God Bless

WOYWW 570

Another week has run by and it is time for sharing our desks with Julia as part of What's on your workdesk Wednesday. I hope that you are all well and staying safe. We are all fine.
Anyway, here is my desk!  It has a nearly empty mug of tea, my journal, photos printed onto sticker paper, some new washi tape which has just arrived, and a new coaster...
This is the gorgeous coaster that Jo (Twiglet) sent me in a parcel of wool for Alex.  It is of her daughters beautiful felt work and I love it.  Thank you so much.
Here is Alex finger knitting!  The lockdown is quite tough on an only child - he is missing other teenagers so I try and keep things interesting for him with joining in with a variety of challenges including Taskmaster challenges and those set by his scouts troop.
This is the new washi tape that was sat on my desk - I use Washi a lot in my journals and this selection has some lovely patterns, and some gorgeous bling!

I promised last week that I would show some of my recent pages from my journal - these two are the monthly pages

And these are a selection of my weekly pages.

I will finish with a few of my favourite photos from our daily walks this week - including the gorgeous bluebells.  I really hope that you all stay safe and well and have a good week, you are all in my thoughts and prayers regularly.
With Love and God Bless,
Caro
