As the title of this post suggests I am in the process of preparing for Advent. I made Tim an Advent calendar about 8 years ago and it is still going strong, so this year I decided to make Alex one, although in a very different style. My desk (for WOYWW) is covered with the cones that are going to contain the little present/chocolate for each day. It has turned out somewhat bigger than I intended and will be installed in the dining room later on this week. Alex knows I am making him something, but not the scale of it...I think it will take up half the room! I am having to keep this short and sweet this week as work means I have very little time at the moment, but needless to say I am having fun with the calendars whenever I get the chance and will show you the completed 'installation' next week! Have a nice week everyone.
Love
Caro

I did laugh to myself ...... It's rather BIG advent project, I bet Alex loves it! And will enjoy it for years to come

That is really pretty! I only had the advent calendars with the chocolates in as a child. It is not such a big thing here.

Well, if you're going to make an Advent calendar, then do it LARGE!!

Now you have got us wondering! How big is this going to be? Hope you get it posted for us to see next week.

Hmm - yes, the advent calendar will rather take over the room. I did a cross stitch calendar with rings for our two daughters when they left home - er, an awful long time ago now! - and they STILL use them each year in their own homes. It's very precious that they see the calendar as an heirloom. Sometimes they hang sweets, sometimes Bible verses to do with the nativity story.
Have a great week and thanks for the visit - glad you liked the views.

Hi Caro, the cones look fabulous and I look forward to seeing it in situ. Alex will love it but you'll have to stuff tissue in them all or else the fillings will cost a fortune.
