WOYWW594

Hello and welcome back to my blog as part of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, hosted by the lovely Julia.  This is going to be very short and sweet by necessity... In addition to teaching on other courses at the university, I run a Masters course and my students start on Friday so I am battling technology to try and set up a hybrid teaching session - some of them will be on-line (one poor chap is stuck in India for the next few weeks) and some of them will be in the lecture theatre (spaced out and all of us wearing masks). The potential for disaster is high so pray for me on Friday morning!

Anyway, enough of work - here is my desk as it was last night... I have started making a Christmas card or two!  You can see I have been heat embossing for the first time in forever so there is scrap paper, embossing powder, stamps, ink, brushos, note pad and my mug of tea.

These are the two cards so far. I can't actually decide if I like them, but at least it is 2 cards completed!

At the moment I sit at this desk all day to work so everything has to be tidied away each evening and then the lap top placed on the desk.  The only advantage of this is that I have been able to sit and watch this tree through the seasons turn from bare branches, to bright pink cherry blossom, to green leaves and now to these gorgeous orangey leaves. The photo doesn't do it justice - the colours are far more vibrant than it appears.

I have to finish now - need to prep for student presentations this afternoon, and for teaching on Friday (assuming nothing changes before then!), so I will leave you with a silly photo from the weekend and another swim photo from Monday evening. - my therapy after crazy busy days.  Take care everyone, and stay safe.  Do get in touch if there is anything I can do for you.

With love & God Bless,

Caro

Good luck with your course, and be comforted by the fact your cards are lovely. I always forget how nice heat embossing can look.

Happy Woyww!

Can you imagine trying to teach without all the technology? It must make your head ache but at least it enables the uni to function somehow. Good luck with the lecturing, hope it all works well. I love your cards actually and really like the non trad it ion always colour you've used!

Oh, but I do love your Christmas cards! If I ever made any, I would make something like yours! I've been watching the trees too - they change so quickly - we planted some cherry trees back in the summer but they're still tiny. I can see though in 10-15 years' time, they will be breathtaking in the autumn! I can't believe you're still swimming - although it seems it might have got a bit warmer outside in the past few days? Hope your lectures go well - I think I would find the face-to-face more stressful than the online ones - but then again, there are fewer things to go wrong delivering a lecture in person. Fingers crossed there won't be any problems! Happy Wednesday! xx zsuzsa #13

Hi Caro, love the Christmas cards, fab design. You could try the same stamp on different coloured backgrounds too. Thats what I love about Brusho's, even the same design looks different every time. Good luck with the class, hope all goes well. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X

I think you deserve a gold star for starting on your Christmas cards with everything else that's going on in your life right now. They are definitely winners in my book - I love the gold embossing against the vibrant colours of the background. What a wonderful tree to look out on - it really is glorious at the moment.
Hope you have a great week and your teaching goes smoothly on Friday.

Hi Caro. You may not be too sure yet - but I love them. Very bright and cheerful! The tree looks lovely - a great backdrop wen you are working from home. Thanks to Alex for the funny face! Proper cheered me up. We will be in full national lockdown again by Friday evening - so am trying to think whether I need to actually go and get anything before that all happens! Got plenty of food in the house.... so it might only need to be the...erm... craft shop. What do you reckon?
All the very best with the teaching and lecturing at the moment - the things we have had to learn how to do these past few months - incredible!
Take care. God bless.

Hi Caro, things are not looking so good around our beautiful South Yorkshire and I pray that you are safe at the Uni. Visited mum yesterday to take her shopping and she's well but there's a lot of coming and going with the care team but they're doing the best they can to keep up to their times we just don't know from one day to the next who might turn up. Pleased you're still able to going swimming, you deserve a bit of fun. Have a lovely week and a very happy woyww, Angela x20x

Hi, Caro!

I do like your cards, both that starry stamp and the brushos! Did you manage to contain the brushos? Not me!

The change of seasons is gorgeous although way too soon!

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

I always like to see you in a swimming costume in the water, it is something I will never get to do, but I love the idea. I really enjoyed the pool in Spain in July, we were so lucky to be able to go. Great start to your Christmas cards. Angela #36

I’m late Caro, so I am in the past tense..I hope everything went well on Friday! I bet it did, even if you think it was a little off, am pretty sure your students really just appreciate that you make such ginormous effort to get to them. I like the Christmas cards, very much! Me too with the embossing, it seems strange after all this time, going back to that which drew me in to paper crafting! So glad you’ve been able to keep up the swimming, will you be able to slip away and get a daylight swim now that the clocks have messed up the light evenings?
