WOYWW 593

Firstly a massive apology - I utterly failed to visit anyone last week due to all chaos breaking out with teaching at the Uni.  We have been shut down temporarily in terms of face-to-face teaching and are currently teaching everything on-line, many of the students are self-isolating because they or house mates have tested positive for COVID (fortunately none of them are very ill and the uni is looking after them well) and so my workload has increased exponentially. Anyway, enough of work - you are here to see my desk as part of Julia's What's on Your Workdesk blog hop.

Needless to say there is not a lot on my desk as there hasn't been a lot of time for crafting!  What you can see is my mug, a calendar I was given for my birthday and a swimming medal.  The medal was for swimming 10km outdoors in the month of September.

The calendar was from a fellow outdoor swimmer and features some fun paintings of people swimming outdoors.

I have managed a little crafting at the back of my Hobonichi weeks - this page separates out the calendar section from the notes section.

And this one comes later in the notes section.

I am continuing with the wild swimming this month and trying to do another 10km this month, which will be harder due to the water dropping in temperature (this lake is now 12oC).  I have had some beautiful swims in the sun (and some in the rain!) in the lake in this park - it is wonderful watching the trees change colour - so beautiful. That's all from me for now. I will try and visit you all this week now things are a little more under control. Please do all take care of yourselves, and shout if you need anything. Stay safe out there.

With love & God Bless,

Caro

LOL! I was clearly so chilled to the bone thinking about you swimming in a frigid lake that my fingers shivered and I tried to post a blank comment! Given my ratio of blogs that allow Name/URL comments to those that want me to sign in to google is pretty low, I really can't miss the chance to leave a comment. I love the swimmers, very cute. Until I read I thought you had painted them!
That tree is, indeed, quite stunning!

Happy WOYWW!

Caro, I think you’re amazing. The work load must be very pressured now, and I’m perfectly sure you’re doing much, much more work than you ever thought yourself capable of. The swimming must be other worldly in terms of escape from it all. So glad you’ve managed a bit in the old journal, just as important if you ask me. SUper impressed that there’s a medal for wild swimming, shame there cant be a ceremony!

I've had a busy morning...been to the hospital for blood tests, back for a late breakfast and then had to shorten 3 the 3 nurses dresses and a pair of jeans before I could start my blog visits...so here I am a little late today.
Love the calendar...very you :-)Just looking at the water in the lake makes me shiver so please keep cosy.
Stay safe and well.
Hugs,

What a fabulous calendar that is - I love that picture that you are showing us. I hope we get to see some of the others as time goes on.
Congrats on the medal and good luck with getting the next one - Ooh you make me shiver but I must say you look very healthy with all this cold water treatment.
Lovely work in the Hobonichi and great photos from the swimming excursions.
Blessings, Neet 14 xx

I hope you manage to keep well clear of all the Covid in the city. I am sure the youngsters will be fine but it is the "knock on" effect that is so worrying. Your calendar looks fun and those Autumn trees are stunning. xx Jo

I love your leafy pages in your journal, and the calendar reminds me of the artist Beryl Cook - it looks fun. Well done on the medal and I hope you achieve your target for October too, though judging by the temperatures this morning you'll need a double dose of stamina!
Hope you have a great week

Hi Caro, you are so brave, swimming outdoors! Especially with how cold it's getting now!I've managed to lose two stone in the last few months, and I'm shocked by how much I'm feeling the cold now, lol.Such a shame for all the Uni people, it seems most uni's now have a big problem with the virus.Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X

Hi Caro. It has taken me all morning to pick up my click and collect order, so I am really late (for me) starting to work down the list - sorry!
What a manic week as you have to get back into on-line teaching rather than face to face. No wonder you have hardly been in your craft space. 12 degrees??? I'm wearing a coat by that temperature - and you are still swimming! Oh my!!! Oh how wonderful to be so young...
Take care. God bless.

Take care Caro-I know from my daughter how draining it is to be teaching online all the time. Love your journal pages as always.

I love your pages, Caro! And congratulations on the wild swimming medal! You are quite a pro at this. Just reading about taking a dip in 12-degree water gives me a fit of the shivers! This time of the year is definitely a time for sitting by the fire with at least one cat on one's lap, I think! Sorry things have been fraught at work and I hope things settle down again soon.

Thank you for your visit and your very kind words! I am continuing to enjoy the tiny carpets project as I go into the final phase with book #3. I started the embroidery late last night after posting my blog. The kitties make us laugh on a daily basis! They are almost human at times, the way they communicate with us through their facial expressions and their different voices for different things, and through their affection. They are a source of endless entertainment and feel-good!

Happy WOYWW and God bless,

Hi Caro, please do not worry yourself with visits, staying safe during these exceptional times is more important. I'm glad you found time to create during your week, make sure you continue each day even if it's just for 10 minutes.

It's a very difficult time and I think it's been a sensible move to lock down some of the Unis. The students are all back now in Lincoln but so far we've been okay but not sure it will last. Take care and wishing you a lovely creative woyww, Angela x19x

Hi Caro! Good for you for keeping up your swimming! I know I could never do it, I have a hard enough time in an unheated pool in the middle of summer! I'm sad that you have had to change everything due to Covid, but I know we will all survive these changes for now, with the understanding that things will be better in the future. Hang in there! Have a wonderful week, and thanks for your visit! Lindart #28

You'll be growing feathers soon at this rate LOL! Seriously though, I admire your resilience against the cold - I find it hard even to get out of the hot shower and make it to the towel rail LOL! Love your swimming calendar and well done for getting the medal. I though that lake was somewhere rural, but now I see that it is actually in a city park? It's surprising that they let people swim wild there, but good for you! Loving the decorated pages in your diary - they're very expressive! Thanks for your visit earlier - it's been a bit crazy around here too and I'm sorry I couldn't come back to you sooner. Once you get the online stuff sorted, I'm sure it will get easier for you. I'm loving that I can work from home. Hope all the students will recover quickly. Stay safe and enjoy your weekend! xx zsuzsa #20

Congrats on that medal and what a fun calendar that is! I think you're a hero, swimming outdoors when the weather is chilly... Thanks for your visit to my blog last week. In the Netherlands there were stricter rules announced in order to get the covid-number down but I am allowed to stay working at location - pfew! That's a release! Stay healthy and happy! Love from Holland. Marit #2

Hi Caro! I am sorry to hear Covid has shut down your uni. We never went back it has been virtual schooling since school began. I am glad to hear that no one is seriously ill either. No apologies for the lack of snooping last week, you have your hands full but we are glad to see you here this week. Congrats on your swimming medal. You are an inspiration. Stay well and thanks for stopping by.
