WOYWW 619

Hello and welcome to my blog for a very special (and picture heavy) edition of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday courtesy of the lovely Julia.

Here is my desk, as taken yesterday evening.  The observant among you will notice that I am missing my usual large mug of tea - Tim had taken it to re-fill it! As you can see I am in the process of working in my various journals - the one towards the back of the desk is my bullet journal, and the second one is my little Hobonichi weeks that you usually see with photos in.

These are the two pages I have been working on - an exercise tracker and a book shelf of the books I have read this year.

The reason that this is a very special edition of what's on your workdesk is that courtesy of being in a long distance bubble, I got to go to Somerset to see my Mum for 5 days for the first time since Christmas. It was so special!

As you can see her garden is looking stunning with all the Spring flowers. Sorry this was such a picture heavy post. I hope you are all well. Do take care and stay safe, especially as things are opening up more.  As ever, shout if I can help with anything.

With love & God Bless,
Caro

I’m so very glad that you had such a wonderful time with your mum, family time is worth more than anything. Those flower pics are glorious, I particularly love the Snake’s Head Fritillaries and the dark purple tulips!

So glad you have been able to visit your Mum Caro. The flowers look lovely. Great idea of writing the titles of books read on images of books on a shelf! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

Good grief, what a stunning garden?! And a beautiful house too. That's quite a trek but worth it I'm sure. I'm trying to read more so I might try the book shelf approach too! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

Hi Caro, I love to see all the photos of your Mum’s garden. Just beautiful. Glad you got to go and see her.
I was interested to see you’ve read the Rivers of London series. Have you tried Jodi Taylor’s St Mary’s series? Historical and very funny time travel.
Take care and happy WOYWW

Is that your mum's garden or a stately home? An amazing array of flowers and not a drop of snow in sight - although it does look quite chilly still. Glad you were able to visit your mum. I like how you recorded the books you've read - I file them on my Kindle in year folders, but the ones I borrow get taken off, so I never know how many books I have actually read! I'm part of a book club that inspires you to read 52 book a year (one a week) but I never manage even half of that! I'm glad if I get through one a month! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #24

I saw your gorgeous pics on Facebook. I’m thrilled for you to have had special days with your mum.
It’s been a manic morning here with more wedding dress and bridesmaids dress fittings and then of course they need the sewing doing ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

So glad you managed to get away and lovely for you to all to spend time with your Mum. Just chuckling at your "bookshelf" list. I always wish I had done this - then I wouldn't be half way through a book before I realise I have already read it. xx Jo

What an amzing garden your Mum has and it is so good that you have been to see her. X

Hello me again. You asked about my pen....it’s a uni pin fine line, water and fade proof pigment ink...0.5
I hope that helps. I’m rather pleased with it too. I also bought a finer one too in the same series but haven’t used it yet. I bought them at the Range.
Hugs,

Pleased you've managed to go and see your mum. I'm late today as we've been sorting my mum's second vaccination and hearing test so at least we've got that done. We have been able to visit my mum through the lockdown as we're registered carers but I can tell you it has not always been easy trying to get help for her and I'm really hoping things are getting better. Have a very happy and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x17x

How lovely that you were able to spend that time with your mum, Caro. The flowers are just beautiful. I love your journal page with the books - beautifully drawn, and what a great idea for a record of books read. I'm afraid if I did it, my shelf would be bare! I manage half a page when I get into bed and then fall asleep, and the next night I have to back-track a bit to remember where I am, and then I drop off again. Sometimes I am "negative reading" - ending up on an earlier page than when I started! My hubby's always got his head in a book if he isn't out and about and being busy but I always seem to have too much other stuff to do to sit reading. I used to read a great deal more than I do at present.

Thank you for your visit, and for your lovely comments about the kitty throw. It is proving to be such an enjoyable project. Some of the kitty faces are a bit quirky because it was really hard to get their mouths symmetrical! A lot of them seem to be saying, "Are you kidding??"

That migraine was pretty scary because it put me in mind of the last time I felt faint (and did actually collapse) - when I was going down with sepsis as a result of a serious post-operative bacterial infection that put me back in hospital for nearly 3 weeks, and I did wonder if something similar was happening. I was reassured to read that fainting is sometimes associated with migraines. Fortunately it only lasted that one day.

Happy belated WOYWW and God bless,

How lovely that you got to see your mum but I have serious garden envy!! I have never seen that many fritillaries in one place and the colours of the tulips and that anenome are just gorgeous! I really should keep track of the books I read, it would be quite a list. Have a good week, stay safe, stay well, love n hugs Cindyxx #12

Lovely garden! That stone your son is standing in front of reminds me of the time hubby dropped me off at a crop and took the kids to a distant historical location as noted in the atlas. It turned out to be (I kid you not) a single stone in the middle of a fenced patch in a pub carpark. We still laugh about it 10+ years later. Your journal is looking good - I read 90% on the Kindle nowadays but it took me 20 years to wra my head around the idea. Now I wonder why I resisted for so long. Grat to make the text bigger as my eyes age LOL!
Socially distanced knitting in the garden yesterday so TODAY is WOYWW for me!

I don’t even know how you find time to read Caro, but I’m glad you do! Your bookshelf is of great interest to me. I’ve read the Thursday Murder Club but none of the others, but may very well try a couple. These days, I tend to listen to them though, while I’m crafting or cleaning! It must have been lovely to see your Mum, I’m very glad that you have been able to. Please tell her how spectacular her beautiful and well established garden is, I so enjoyed the tour!

Happy Belated WOYWW. We are hoping to go and visit my mum in Oxfordshire fairly soon, but she may want us to wait until we have had our 2nd vaccine. We will also need some warmer weather to make it more comfortable to be outside for a few hours (I don’t do well with cold!). Ali x. #22

ooh how lovely you were able to pop down to Somerset (where a lot of my family live), so special and loving the photos.

Love your tracker, I keep a habit tracker in my bullet journal too but love the idea of the book tracker!

Recommend dandelion honey, SO easy and only flowers, water, sugar and lemon! Let me know and I can let you have the recipe
