WOYWW 479 (I think!)

Wednesday, and time for another round of desk hopping thanks to Julia's inspired 'What's on your workdesk Wednesday' (also known as WOYWW). My desk is looking pretty tidy with only a few stamps to show that I have actually been crafting recently and the card that I made.  This card is for my brother - I always struggle to know what to put on a card but he does wear glasses (and grows a moustache once a year for Movember) so I thought this would do! You can also see my enormous mug of tea (and for those of you who wondered last time - I don't often completely finish it before it goes cold so I don't usually fill it to the brim!)

The observant among you will have spotted that I have some new mugs on my desk that I am using as storage for pens and washi tape and the theme of these mugs may give you a hint as to where I was last week!

There are also some new additions at the back of my desk in the form of Lego Harry Potter figures and a bright pink pygmy puff!

 Yes, I took Alex on a much anticipated trip to the Harry Potter studio Tour - He dressed up in his costume and we both thoroughly enjoyed looking round at all the sets (warning - lots of photos coming up!)

Finally I will leave you with a little bit of crafting - I finished the ICAD (index card a day) challenge having made over 60 index cards in two months.  This is my desk festooned with all the cards... there is such a mixture of styles and techniques represented here. It was a fun challenge and I was impressed that I managed to keep up. Now its time for a change of pace.  Have a great week.

WOYWW 477

Well the week has flown by again and Alex has now officially finished primary school, but more of that later! You probably came by here to see my desk in all its chaotic glory (see Julia's blog for more details of the What's on your Workdesk phenomenon).

As you can see my desk is utter chaos.  I went away at the weekend and spent yesterday evening trying to catch up on my index cards and generated a huge amount of mess in the process.  You can just about see another large (pint) mug of tea on the right side of the desk, some scraps of old scrapbooking papers on the left and a general muddle of pens, double sided tapes, ruler inks etc over the rest of it. Here are some of my index cards from the week

 An abstract experiment with finger painting acrylics - very messy and great fun

 A water colour image from the psalms.  Watercolours dont work brilliantly on the index cards but it was fun to experiment.

For once I followed a theme on this one - the prompt was postage so I used old K&Co papers for this.
Alex's leavers disco was incredible - the mummy network had put on an amazing time for them.  The theme was the greatest showman/circus:

Look how cool the invitations were!  Simply amazing.

All the teachers dressed up - including the head teacher who was the bearded lady!

 They had a photo booth - this is Alex dressing up in it!

 They had people teaching the kids circus skills, a pizza supper, a disco and then a balloon drop (the decorations in the hall were amazing, but I can't show photos of other kits faces on here)

 Then the announced each child as they exited the hall on the red carpet - Alex in true clown fashion did a dramatic knee drop!

 The leavers assembly was very emotional the next day - all the teachers were in tears as were half the kids and the parents.  It is the end of an era.

To celebrate the start of the holidays Alex and I went on a long train journey to the south coast to stay with my aunt where we had fun paddle boarding, swimming in various pools and the sea and generally had a lovely time, so I will leave you with a few photos!

Where did last week go?  The time seems to be flying past at the moment... it is the end of term and end of Primary School for Alex on Friday and I just know I will cry and embarrass him at his leavers assembly (I have been banned from helping at the leavers disco!).  Anyway, I digress...

This is my desk in all its chaotic glory for What's on your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) which is a lovely blog hop round crafting spaces courtesy of Julia.  As you can see there is a mug of tea (yes, it is enormous - it holds 1 litre!) and a general mixture of washi tapes, acrylic paints, inks, pens, stencils etc as I was hastily making my latest index card in a 10 minute window!  My index cards this week are a pretty eclectic bunch as you can see below...

Wow, another week has flown by and it is time for another nosey around the crafting desks of blogland courtesy of Julia. So in the fine tradition of the desks, here is mine!

This was taken this morning. Last night I had just finished decorating another index card for the index card a day (ICAD) challenge. I had started to put away some of the things I used such as the acrylic paints and distress inks but then got sidetracked and left it in this state!

This was the card I was working on.  I have now completed 40 index cards out of the 61 with most of them completed on the day.  The following photos are just a few of the index cards I have made this week, trialling very different techniques and media, but all using Bible quotes as their inspiration.

 Watery scenes using stamps, brushos, and distress inks

 Musical background using washy tape and then tissue paper I had used as a rag for mopping up paint and ink and cleaning paint brushes!

Finally I thought I would finish off with this photo of Alex proudly walking back from his first transition day at secondary school.  His new school is a 35 minute walk from home and he walked all the way there by himself.  I did offer to give him a lift, but he was determined to do it.  He seemed to enjoy the transition days, and likes his form tutor so we are praying that it all works out for him in the Autumn.

WOYWW 474

Another week has flown by and it is time for a nosey round each others desks courtesy of Julia.

My desk is looking remarkably tidy - well sort of (for me!) - you can at least see space for crafting but everything else is piled up round the edges.  The truth is I need some more storage for my crafting goodies - it has been promised, but I need to clear the study in order to re-decorate and then put up the new furniture.  Needless to say full-time work, caring duties and Mummy duties mean that time to do this is at a premium, but all being well it will happen at some point this year!

This is a birthday card I made for my sister-in-law who loves elephants.  The rest of my crafting this week has been more index cards for the ICAD challenge (index card a day) which I am really enjoying at the moment. Here are a few I have done this week...

And just to finish, the sun is so lovely that we are making the most of it.  Here is Alex at our local paddling pool, snorkelling in about 6-8 inches of water LOL!
