Family crafting

Alex had gone off crafting for a while, but recently he has decided that he wants to craft with me in the study. This is fine in theory, but our study is a TIP...my little crafting corner is fine, but there is a LOT of computer equipment, papers, cables etc that are not suitable for a 3 year old to be anywhere near, and he doesn't want to craft on the dining room table...it has to be in the study sat at my desk! Well, we tried it last night with some success and lots of 'DONT TOUCH THAT, LEAVE IT ALONE!' type stresses, but he loved it and the end result was quite fun. Here he is sticking his alien to the landscape.
And this is the final picture. I cut out the Alien and the eyes, but he did everything else, including cutting with the shaped scissors...not easy for a lefthander. He loves cutting, and is very enthusiastic about it, but it doesn't always do what he wants it to! I'm not sure if you can see in this photo but the alien has three tiny googly eyes as well as the two big ones.
As it is Wednesday it is time for another WOYWW.  I feel that I am cheating a little as I had to tidy my desk in order to let Alex craft on it yesterday evening.  Since then I have started my own project, a double scrapbook page so here you can see one page in progress, various scraps of paper, rolled up double sided tape backing,  the original tape roll, pritt stick, PVA glue, my craft mat hidden underneath a leaflet I was cutting up and of course my mug of tea (half finished and a little cold now!).
Here is the final layout which followed the Nuts about Sketches sketch for this week. It also fits with the Lasting Memories 'reduce, re-use and recycle' challenge as the majority of papers on this layout are scraps left over from a layout I created about 18 months ago (I never throw away scraps of paper), the letters F and L were cut from scrap paper and I also used elements cut from the Flamingo Land leaflet. This also fits with Pile it ons 'childhood dreams' as one of my childhood dreams was to go to Flamingo Land, but as we lived in Somerset I never got to go! Finally it fits with Delightful challenges 'animals' theme. That is all from me for now. Have a great rest of the week.
Love,
Caro

It is very difficult to craft with little ones, unless you have plenty of space, so well done to you for managing to get such a lovely result with your littley. He looks so busy and happy there.

What a great alien pic! I know what you mean though..my daughter is older now (10) and now has her very own space, but before that, it was a little tough and alot of the same - don't touch this, that or THAT! It all works out in the wash! Great layout and love your take on our challenge this week as well as everyone elses! Awesome job!

Thanks for joining us at Lasting Memories!

Your son looks like he is having a great time - a crafter in the making.
What is it about children and scissors though. My honorary grand-daughter loves to cut things up. She will sit for hours with a pair of scissors - maybe she is a hairdresser in the making.

Love the Alien that your son has made. A budding crafter in the making. Have you thought of a small folding table that he can sit at placed away from any cables.

Gorgeous photo of your handsome baby boy, how lovely. I recognise the little stresses that reveal themselves, but how worthwhile - the alien pic is a triumph. So is your LO, great way to use a bunch of one trip pictures..

oh my....how adorable is your little one!!!!!! Im so glad to see you encouraging his creativity!!!! I tried to keep most of my boys away from scissors and glue at that age....mostly due to just knowing they would destroy soemthing....and as a result of me not letting tghem do it wth me they all rebelled and cut one anothers hair, the shower curtain, phone line (not even joking!!) So I decided with kid #5 to let him do whatever I was doing and just clean up the mess.....and know waht? he hasn't cut my phone cord. or clothes, or curtains......LOL. There is a moral to this story :) Sorry for my longgggggggggg story. Love your stuff and his alien is as cute as he is :)

Your son is very talented. I love the photo of his crafting. I'm glad that he wants to. Very sweet. Great way to recycle your scraps. I never throw anything away either. I could scrap for months with my scraps alone. Your page is great. I love that you realized a childhood dreams. Great take on the sketch. I was hoping to work on that one too. Thanks for joining us at Lasting Memories.
