Fame?! (WOYWW)

They say that everyone will have their 5 minutes of fame...well this week I had about 20 seconds worth as I was quoted in a Sunday Times Magazine article alongside a not very flattering photo taken in the lab at work! Fortunately only one person at work spotted it so I wasn't subjected to too much teasing.
Anyway, moving swiftly on, here is my desk as it was this morning, all neat and tidy with Alex sat watching annoying orange on the ipad. He thinks annoying orange is hilarious, although it isn't my sense of humour at all.
As my entry to WOYWW this is my desk as it was on Tuesday; covered in background papers made using my new Gelli Plate (Tim gave it to me as a Valentine's Day present!).  I have had loads of fun messing with the paint effects and had spread all my attempts out in order to choose which background I wanted to use. At the back of the desk you can see my limited collection of acrylic paints and my trusty mug of tea (almost empty and in need of a refill).  At the left of the desk is a fiskars shape cutting stencil, an embossed piece of card I used on the gelliplate and my smash book open at the page I was about to fill.
As many of you know I have been using my smash book as a diary of this year so the next page was about our pancake day fun.  I took a large photo of  a pancake for the centre of the page and used word art for the  title.  I then put little photos of the fun around the edge and annotated with my own handwriting. I am entering this into Kaboodle Doodles 'not a square' challenge.
The next page was of Valentine's Day when Tim took me out for a lovely Chinese meal (photos of the food at the top of the page) and gave me a beautiful bunch of flowers (photo at the bottom) as well as the gelli plate. For this I used a gelliplate background with two impressions and three colours of paint, and then I stamped over the top with script, music and hearts in fired brick distress ink before adding the photos (giving them captions where appropriate), part of the beer label, a peel off title and a Tim Holtz key as a finishing touch.  As a result I am entering this into SSSS 'metal-ology', Flourishes Timeless Tuesday 'I'm seeing red' and Month in Review challenges.
That is all from me for now.  Have a great rest of the week everyone.
Love,
Caro

My husband says the same about the 20 seconds of fame...he can do without! It is a good picture though! Love the journal pages. I haven't really thought much about a gel plate and probably won't for a while. Thanks for sharing and have a great week! Vickie #28

Congrats on your 5 mins of fame and what a 5 minutes. I zoomed in and read the very fine print. Whole heartedly agree. I think it is a lovely pic of you and I think it should be scrapped in one of your amazing LO or at least put in your smash books. Always lovely to learn that crafters come from such diverse backgrounds and now we can add aristocracy.

HEY! I saw that article! Nifty. We shall have to call you The Lady Dr from now on - I always thought women got a raw deal with the whole line of succession thing! Isn't Gelli Plating fun? I adore playing with mine but you don't half burn thru reams of paper saying "what will happen if I do THIS?" My DD loves her iPad too but we hae not been exposed to the Orange yet - she's very into the chat bots (AI based so it seems like they are talking to you) and tries to trick them into nonsensical answers. At least they are all about the typing and silent! Somehow I have my doubts the Orange is the same.....

Happy WOYWW

Blimey, does this ,ean we have to call you Lady Skelmersdale?? Lol. How amazing to know your ancestors like that, regardless of whether you want the title or not. Our family all hail from Wales and are called variations of David/William/Thomas Williams...a complete nightmare when you're trying to search through the registers!!!! We were all. 'Agricultural labourers' !
I love the central pancake in the LO, it's just perfect :)

These Gelli plates are popping up all over and no wonder if you can get results like yours - very colourful.
If you were Lady Skelmersdale, or 'Skem' as its known near here, would we have to curtsy?
Thanks for visiting, just starting phase 2 of my desk hop.

hi Caro love the backing papers you've made with the 'gelli plate' I keep forgetting to google it as I still don't know what it is. Lovely photo of Alex. Great pages in your journal etc. Happy WOYWW Anne x

Hi Caro, I'm in total agreement with you ... a PhD is hard won so why would you want to give up the title of Doctor for anything else!

Pancake Day here was a disaster - my DH always makes the pancakes but this time he burned the lemon sauce and the pancakes were not up to his usual standard!?!?

Thanks for popping by and leaving a comment. I'm not at all organised in the usual way of things - in fact, I have practically a life time's worth of photos still to scrap. I came to scrapping late and now I find that if I concentrate on scrapping the old photographs, the more recent ones will never get done so I've decided to make a point of scrapping a few new ones as they are taken and fill in with the older ones, if you see what I mean.

Hope you had a happy WOYWW. Elizabeth x #58

Fame is ok if you have earned it, and by all your hard work on your PhD you have earned it. I hope you can add lots of stories about your ancestors to the hard facts of family history. I am still doubtful about the Gelli Plate. I need to see more of it to decide whether I really need one. Thank you for your visit this week, and have a good time with your crafting. xx Maggie #42
