WOYWW485

Well I'm back again for another Wednesday's nose around the crafting desks of the world courtesy of Julia.
Here is my desk in all its chaos... everything has been shoved to the edge allowing me a small space (about the size of a laptop) in which to craft. To the left is my study Bible, open from service prepping for the Sunday evening service this week, Nearby are my acrylic paints as I was using them on the art journal page that I was working on.  The mug beside them is full of a variety of palette knives, paintbrushes and some pens.  Next you can see my empty mug of tea, drunk while messing in my journal which is in the centre of my desk. You can also see my water pot, a paintbrush, pencil and some word stickers
This is the journal page I was working on... I am trying to stretch myself outside my comfort zone with different colours and being more free in my artwork, brushstrokes etc.  Not entirely sure I like this one, but I am enjoying the process of playing with paint without judgement or meeting a standard.
I am sorry that I haven't yet done the promised 'how I use my journal post' but I have been ill this week with a heavy cold, and very sore throat and cough. This weekend while I was nursing my sore throat and prepping for the evening service Alex sat and painted his first Warhammer figures - he sat concentrating for hours which is unheard of.
I was impressed with the quality of his painting as well... he improved significantly between the first and second figure he painted... this is his second figure - lots of detail and dry brushing. That's all from me for now.  Have a good week everyone.
Love
Caro

Oh wow, dry brushing from your son - that is good. Lots of adults don't manage that.
Well, I like your journal page. I think it is a lovely combination of colours, nothing clashes and it all works so well. Perhaps a few straight lines in black, 1 or 2 across and down and a word or two in a nice script and it would be finished. (I hope you don't mind me interfering like that but I do like the page so much I can visualise what I would do with it if I could make one so nice.) Sorry.
Hugs, Neet 2 xx

Warhammer....goodness, that takes me back! My boys had boxes of the stuff and yes, it's amazing how patient they can be whilst absorbed with the painting! I love your bright and colourful journal pages - good for you for pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone! You're good, you need to do more!

Sorry to hear you're suffering with a cold, Caro - miserable. Your journal page is beautiful - love the fresh colours and the music! I hope your Sunday service goes well and is a blessing. Your son's painting is impressive. I always enjoy seeing the kids being encouraged to be creative, and I'm sure he enjoys being with you as you work. Thank you for your lovely comment and may the Lord bless you too! I am glad you like my studio. It looks really nice when it's tidy but usually it's a tip! I've got a huge amount of sorting out to do, UFOs to finish and junk to get rid of. Then I might have room to move! Our kitties love to cuddle up, especially now the weather has cooled off. We can't usuall sit down without being landed on by one or other or both of them!

Afternoon Caro. I think you're being very brave to just go for it with your journal and new colours and styles - well done. Love the music hidden in the page. Well done Alex - incredible painting!
Take care. God bless.

Hope you're feeling better every day Caro - gosh it's inconvenient being poorly, am sorry for you. I love the journal page with it's bright colours. It is a perfect place to try stuff out isn't it, always a place that will make whatever you do feel as if you've achieved something for the effort. Alex's work is wonderful, I do love how they are so absorbed by their hobbies, no different to us at all!

Well done Alex! Your page is lovely too - it's good to get outside the comfort zone some times!! xx Jo

Very risky having your tea cup and paint water next to each other LOL! Love how you used white space in your layout - that's something I always struggle with as I feel compelled to fill every inch of the surface with colour! Good job painting the figurine - it's great how he can concentrate on such small details. My son lost interest in his painting homework after 45 mins and kept asking if it's nearly finished yet. (Come to think of it, maybe that's why he didn't want to put finishing touches to it, just to get it over and done with LOL) Have a lovely week, Caro! zsuzsa #18

As a mixed media artist, I fell in LOVE with this journal page. It may be outside YOUR comfort zone, but I think it is simply incredible.

Whatever you do, don't get you water pot and your mug of tea confused (grin). I love that box of paints on your desk. Thanks for dropping by earlier and happy WOYWW from # 1 thanks to Helen.

Thanks for popping by!
Yep, it does seem a bit risky to have your tea and paint water so close together! I would definitely dip my brush in the wrong liquid while painting. But your page is gorgeous! And love the concentration that Alex has! What a great job!
Have a great week!

Hi Caro, hope your throat is feeling a bit better. Love the journal page, the contrast between the colour and the white space is fabulous. Please congratulate alex on his painting skills, he has done a fabulous job. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

HI Caro, I love that journal page, it's really colourful and artsy but still with some white space to balance it out, beautiful. Alex did a fab job with painting the figure too - one of my sons used to be a real fidget, but one day he did some tapestry at school and got really into it, used to sit working on them for hours - I still have them and he's nearly 35 years old now :o) Annie C #21

Hi Caro, loving the movement of the paint in your journal, the beauty of those sort of art is that we can cover it all up if we do not like it and it leaves fabulous textures behind.
Sorry you have had that bug flying around, I had it last week and it knocked me off my feet for a couple of days.
Happy WOYWW, have a super week & Thank you for your visit Tracey #7

love the bold colours in your journal. Alex is a born miniature painter! I remember my brother (albeit at a lot older age) spending hours doing similar. Hope the cold goes soon - seems to have been a crop of them lately. I guess it's from the kids going back to school... share and share alike. Have a good week. Helen #3

Hi Caro, sorry you haven't been feeling well. Hope you get better soon. Nice to see Alex 'crafting' - does he share your craft room? Nice to be adventurous and out of your comfort zone. I don't stray there very often, but may be I should! Thanks for stopping by earlier and have a lovely week Heather x #9

Funny how some 'tasks' can get children to concentrate for a longer time... I remember my son could do these kind of things too (oh, and drawing labyrinths, I suddenly remember he could do that for hours!)I love the somewhat abstract page in your journal, the colours are not my faves but it does look good! Thanks for your visit to my blog earlier, have a great week. Love from Holland, Marit #23

Hope you feel better soon. Those colors are so vibrant. I have a hard time getting out of my 'box' sometimes. When I do things I create are always a little more, me lol. Like I wasn't trying to be like some designer I saw. Thanks for the visit.
