Another Wednesday in lockdown and another time for a bit of
fun and interaction with other crafters courtesy of Julia and WOYWW.
Here is my desk as it was late last night with my various
journals – the larger red one is my spiritual/prayer journal, the open journal
is my weekly diary and the tiny red one is a new journal filled with prayer
requests. I am part of the prayer ministry
team at church and the prayer requests are coming so thick and fast it is
easier to write them down so I don’t forget to pray for anyone. To the right is my paper pad usually used for
writing work notes, but covered in doodles drawn during my Bible study meeting
last night (held via zoom).
Apart from the doodling I haven’t done a huge amount of
crafting this week, although I did manage to paint this picture by following
instructions in a You Tube video by a Christian artist who I really like,
called Oliver Pengilley.
It has been another week of juggling work and family, with
at least a couple of days holiday which was nice - yes, I am soaked - I always lose water fights with Alex!
We celebrated Alex’s 13th birthday
with a film, take away pizza, a water fight and a family party via zoom.
This week Alex is on ‘lockdown scout camp at home’ and they
are being set tasks each day – yesterday was to build their camp site, which he
did in our little garden, complete with a camp fire. They were not expected to sleep out which was good!
We are managing to get out for our daily local walks most
days, which is nice. It appears,
contrary to what I was first told, that my heart condition doesn’t make me
especially vulnerable to Covid-19 which is a good as it means I can go on shopping
for my elderly neighbours and giving Alex much needed exercise.
I hope that you are all staying well and keeping safe. I know it is hard but we have hope that we will come through this.

Well that's great to know that your condition doesn't preclude you from going out - it's much the same with G as well for the same reason. I enjoyed seeing what you and Alex are getting up to this week, it's learning in another form in my opinion. I love what the Scouts are doing for their members, just a great idea.

Pleasing new to know that you can venture outside. The scout camp at home idea is brilliant and Alex looks like he is having a fun time (Happy Belated Birthday). Always lovely to see what is happening on peoples desk I plan to start a grateful journal. In times of uncertainty it is always good to just focus on all the things we are given daily to be grateful. Stay safe.

Hi Caro. Hmm... Looks to me as though Alex got his fair share of water in the water fight!! He's pretty soaked too. Gorgeous photo of that stone wall - I adore dry stone walls. They come in so many different varieties dependent on where they are in Britain. I always wanted to do a fabric piece depicting one in some way... perhaps now is my chance? Glad to see Alex is enjoying his scout camp - sounds like he has been reading Lynn's post today - "visiting" different venues!

Beautiful painting Caro love that bright white light so powerful with the silhouette under the tree, there's so many tutorials online generously shared by creatives. Happy Belated Birthday to Alex again looks like he enjoyed lots of fun & activities, this will certainly be one Birthday he will never forget.

Alex is so lucky to have you, you do such fun things together! Glad you are able to go shopping (take care!) I go as infrequently as possible (one a week) but having no car means I have to be careful not to overload my shopping basket in the store! Helen #1

It looks as if you've had an eventful week, Caro. A very happy birthday to Alex - wow, 13! I had to laugh at him defeating you in a water fight - rather you than me lol!! Lovely photos. I also love the one of the wall going off into the distance - this is the sort of thing I love to take photos of, too. So glad you can get out and about. I haven't left the house (apart from the garden) since all this started.
Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad you like my mandalas. I am now busy colouring the mandalas themselves and will post them next week. As for the Tesco delivery slots, I did what you suggested last weekend (or was it the weekend before that... time is doing weird things at the moment!) and was held in a queue for about 15 minutes watching the Tesco page automatically refreshing until I came to the head of the queue. I was able to get a slot on the Saturday (the last available day 3 weeks hence) which I am going to have to pay for, because I only have mid-week delivery saver. Actually we are all getting a refund on that, because they do recognise that people are finding it hard to get slots. I also had yet another email from Tesco, saying they have got a list of vulnerable people from the government and have identified a lot of customers on that list - I am hoping that being in receipt of disability benefit, my name will come up on the list, but they haven't finished yet, so I shall just have to wait and see.

I had no idea you had a heart condition Caro - so glad it means you can carry on as normal.
Some fabulous photos of your son there, he looks so happy - you are such a brilliant mum and I can't see that many having water fights, especially when they know they always come off the loser.
I just love the painting you did and I love the photo of Alex taken through a small aperture - very clever photography.

You are doing a great job Caro, don’t ever doubt that will you. Alex’s imagination is marvellous, and you’ve taken some wonderful pics of you, him and the nature that you walk in. I am super impressed by the Scouts doing online stuff for their membership, it must be a great help, especially with a young teenager, many happy returns to him. I love your painting, and how you just ‘did it’ in what seems to be no time at all, clever you. Bet you find it a welcome change of pace to slow your thinking down and express yourself with some paint and water. Big fat illegal but completely safe hugs to you.
Hi Caro, Don't think we've met before, I'm married with one son too (mine is 21yrs) and a Christian so loving your Bible Journalling. I did a bible journalling zoom meet yesterday with some ladies from church but I'm more of a papercrafter to be honest but do a bit of doodling in my journal with coloured pens. Happy birthday to your teenager! It's such a big turning point - mine started puberty almost overnight after his 13th birthday - it went from me laughing at him when he announced that he might have to start shaving to him actually having to start shaving just a few months afterwards. And now he's got hairy legs as well! In many ways I miss the little boy he used to be, but of course I'm also delighted to watch him grow into a young man! Although I'm dreading the day when he starts driving! Alex must be such a joy to have around - enjoy every minute of it because they grow up too fast! Super painting - very expressive! Keep yourself and your family safe - this situation can't last forever!
