Hello and welcome back to my blog for another edition of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday courtesy of the lovely Julia.
This is my desk at the end of the day yesterday so all that is present is a pencil and my bullet journal. There is no mug of tea as it was just before bed, and the mug was downstairs and all washed up ready for today!
I promised last week that I would show a flip through of my journal from 2020 when I finished it. This weeks crafting was essentially finishing the final pages so this video (if it works) is the flip through. I hope you find it interesting - I wont be offended if you don't!!
The weather this weekend in Sheffield was officially freezing, with air temperature at 0 or below, with wind adding a chill factor. It didn't stop me from swimming though! This is about 30 minutes walk from home and was beautiful - there was ice on the branches of the trees, and the water was around 2 degrees.
On Sunday I dragged Alex for a walk with me to an alternative swimming spot where he had fun smashing ice while I attempted to make a big enough hole to swim in! Officially mad, but such fun.
That is all from me this week. I really hope that you are all keeping well and staying safe. Do shout if there is anything I can do, from a friendly chat to anything else. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
With love & God Bless,
Caro

I really enjoyed the flip trough your journal Caro....mostly because I loved hearing your voice. Your journal was smaller than I imagined and I really loved it being so small and perfect...you are so talented.
Hugs,

I'd love to be able to swim in the sea all year round, but I think I need to start when the weather's good so I can acclimatise to the colder weather/water. I didn't realise you lived in Sheffield. Our daughter lives right in the centre on Nursery Street. x
Morning Caro, fascinating to see a flip through of your journal - it is absolutely packed! What an interesting record of the year you have made. I ended up using my diary to write the answers for the virtual quiz I do every week. Seemed a shame to waste it(!). I was alarmed to read you were making a hole in the ice to swim although I know you are being careful - officially mad indeed!! Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs Cindy #14 xx
I think you’re wonderful (but also bonkers) doing your winter swimming, your immune system must be firing on all cylinders now!! It’s odd to see your desk without the mug but I guess it has to be washed up occasionally, lol! The video was great btw, you should do more!
Hugs LLJ 15 xxxx
I can imagine the stillness and beauty of swimming in the icy day, and I can imagine that if Alex had to smash ice with his boots, it was fairly thick! Brr. Fabulous feeling when you start the warm up, very alive! I enjoy payed the flick through, your diary is amazing. I bet you enjoy doing it on the basis of how precious previous ones have become.
Oh I do just love your journal! It is a fabulous record of the year, so much detail and so personal. Historians of the future will appreciate your snapshot of 2020 - amazing. I have to laugh at how bundled up you are for your WALK and yet all but strip off for your SWIM! Still impressive, week after week...
Happy WOYWW, with a late start

Morning Caro. You are most definitely bonkers - and also extremely brave - For me to swim the water needs to be around body temperature!! The photos are lovely. Well done on the journal video - what a huge amount of effort you put in to make such a lovely reminder in years to come. Well done.
Take care. God bless.

Thanks for the flip through. Great icy pics but ..... stay safe and WARM! Helen #4
As I scrolled down and saw the first snowy picture, the actual words in head were 'well we won't be seeing swimming this week'! How wrong could I be and how hardy are you - Oh and officially mad? Definitely!! I've been reading a Lisa See book called the Island of Sea Women - fictional but about real women on a Korean island who dived as a collective to harvest food to support their families - their bodies could handle incredibly cold conditions amazingly well - I did think of you a couple of times during the read! I loved scrolling through your journal, it's cram packed with such interest and I love your mix of writing, images and art work.
Hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,
Diana xx #25
Loved the journal flip through Caro - very inspiring and also lots of ideas. You are as much a loony as my sister who will shortly be running her 100th marathon lol but the swimming looks very exhilerationg. Good for you! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
So many cold wintry prettiness ~ great job on the journal! Love, Karen#30

Caro, first off, you are mad as a hatter! LOLOL I'm sure at this point, you are used to it, but it would take a terrific amount psyching myself up to putting the suit on, much less jumping in that frigid water!! LOL Wow, wow, weee! LOL Second, I LOVE your journal! It really is an expression of you for 2020 and I love it! Something amazing to look back on in years to come for sure!! Stay healthy with all that cold swimming and many blessings to you! Felicia #33
I can't look at that desk any more Lol! it's far too tidy or is it just that mine is always so untidy....oh well never mind. It's funny really the difference in the weather between where you live and us. I notice it so much now when we go home to my mum's as it's always colder even in the summer and it's not really very far just about an hour's drive. Take care and have a lovely creative week, Angela x23x
You are one crazy lady with your swimming, but definitely cool or should that be icy :) love the way you use small photographs in your journal. Have a great week Angela #10
Hi, Caro!
Sorry to be so late getting around.
Once again, some beautiful pictures!
I could line up all of my journals like that, the line could stretch for miles! The only difference. . . .mine are still all empty! Just can't bring myself to put my thoughts on paper. My daughter even gave me a new one for Christmas, titled "The Story of My Life, If a story is in you, it has to come out." Each page has a question at the top of it, to prompt me. Kind of funny as this is what I did to get my father to write some of his history. Except I used a blue canvas binder and lined notebook paper! He had a lot of expensive and empty planners, too! They were too nice to write in!
Stay well and Happy Wednesday!
Kathryn
Please tell me you don't normally go swimming on your own? Just one query about this ice swimming - do you swim underneath the ice. You must do as I can't see you swimming in just the hole.
I love seeing the photos so keep up the swimming - and the snaps.
Blessings, Neet 17 xx
WOW hasn't Alex grown up! I remember when he was tiny! Ohooo Smashing ice to swim in?! Noooo! Brrrrrrrrrrrr! Well I guess it must do you good! Journal looks great, as always! Hospit went ok only have to go every two years now! Have a great crafty week Stay Safe, Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #21
Yep totally bonkers with the ice swimming. I can't even swim in warm water - LOL Thanks for the visit BJ#6
Lovely to see the journal in real life as it were, Caro, and to hear your beautiful voice describing it! It is a lot smaller than I had envisaged, but so packed with information and lots of colour and interest. It will be fun for you to look back on it in years to come. Your swimming never ceases to amaze me... I really don't know how you can bear to get into such cold water, and to survive it!! Definitely not for me haha!!
Thank you for your visit. Whenever I buy more yarn for a project, I buy a lot more than I need, because then it goes in my stash and I've always got lots to choose from. I rarely work in a single colour and it's good to have lots of choice. I'm glad you like my rainbow jumper - I think it's my favourite thick winter one! I am thrilled to bits with my new blender, and I am hoping there will be no further problems. I am using it several times a day. I still have an outstanding issue with the company who supplied the original one but hopefully they will get down to it soon and either give me a replacement or a refund. They are certainly taking their time.
Happy WOYWW and God bless,

You are a heroine to swim in this cold weather! I find myself 'great' only going for a small walk (almost) every day... Have a nice week dear, stay healthy and safe! Big hug from the Netherlands. Marit #31
Ah - so lovely to hear you chatting about your diary - it is certainly a great way to record "a year in the life" - and what a year!! Let's hope next year is a betert one - eventually. I shiver each time I look at your swimming pics - what a brave thing you are. Stay well and stay safe. xx Jo
I think your journal peek through is just fabulous Caro :) loved that. ~Stacy #36
Hi Caro, sorry I'm so late. I really enjoyed having a look through your bulet journal as I've just started one myself for this year. There are lots of YT vids showing set-ups, but not many showing how you actually filled it in so that was really interesting. I love the idea of the little photos as a kind of diary. I think it will be fun to look back at in a few years won't it and 2020 will definitely be one to remember! have a great weekend. Annie C #34
Definitely the breaking of the ice would be fun. I have my doubts about the swimming! Happy WOYWW! Susan #26
