WOYWW 618

Welcome back to my blog for another edition of What's on your workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) hosted by the lovely Julia. Apologies for missing last week - I was involved in the medical school final year OSCE exams which went on all week. It was so lovely to see people in person for a change - the most people I have seen in over a year. The good thing about it was that everyone had taken lateral flow tests in advance and everyone was masked up so it all felt very safe.

Anyway, enough about work, you are here to see my desk. This is my desk in the process of getting my diary up to date. Rub-ons, journal, pens etc all on display, and a nearly empty mug of tea in need of a re-fill.

Here are the most recent completed journal pages, from March, all of which feature Alex and swimming! For the record I swam 17 times in March and having swum 5 times in April so far, have now swum every month of the year.

I have also made a couple of birthday cards - one for my mother-in-law and one for Alex's 14th birthday.`

He had a lovely day including online gaming with friends and cousins, meeting friends for a nerf war in the park, and testing out his new bicycle, finishing off with pizza oven pizza, a film and home made birthday cake. Mission successful!

That's all I have to report for now. Take care and stay safe everyone.

With love & God Bless,

Caro

What a fun post! Loved seeing all the journal pages (Alex and Swimming - of COURSE they all have your two favourite things on them LOL!) and I love the cards. So different but both very nice. Sounds a lovely birthday for your son - can't wait till it is warmed and we can gather round the pizza oven for dinner in the sunshine. Bliss
Happy WOYWW day!

I need to know more about the pizza oven! We're thinking about getting one for DH's birthday next week. I loved Alex's minecraft card and the watercolour card is beautiful. Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #9

I can't believe Alex is already 14! He's almost growing up in front of our eyes! The lateral flow testing does give you a sense of security - I'm just hoping they're accurate. We test our son twice a week too just for peace of mind, although there's not much point now during the break as we're not really mixing with anyone. Love the journal, the cake, the card and the blossom! Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #21

Hi Caro. What a great time you have all been having! Alex, swimming, and then, of course, Alex, swimming... Happy belated birthday to Alex. I cannot believe he is 14 already - how time flies! Well done on the successful mission accomplished!
Trust the students have all done well in their exams. I love the birthday cards you have made - another mission accomplished.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Caro, saw the pic. of you going swimming yesterday and I was shocked. We had gone to mum's to check the house and it snowed so much that it covered the lawn! You must be one tough cookie. Happy belated birthday to Alex. Don't tell him I said this but he looks more and more like you every time I see him, he might not want to know that Lol! Sending big hugs and wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x17x

Hi, Caro!

What a busy and beautiful week! Great that you have documented these memories. They are treasures for sure.

Thank you for sharing. This is one way that I see “real people.” I haven’t had much cause to but do miss it.

Stay safe and well

Happy Wednesday

I love that you do "proper" journalling with writing and all - I never do. Maybe you have more to write about! Glad Alex enjoyed his birthday and got to meet some friends. Have a great week and thanks for visiting.. Helen#1

Happy Birthday to Alex! Wow 14 already! He'll be driving the car next! I'm glad he has joined you in your swimming adventures. I can't even comprehend swimming every month of the year here in Canada! There is a Polar Bear Club here that jumps in for a few seconds in February I think, but not actual swimming! Your journal looks spectacular! Funny story with the wolf I used, I bought a totally black wolf from Lavinia just a couple of weeks ago, used it once and immediately lost it. So I had to use a regular wolf stamp and colour it black (so I'm happy you liked it!). Then...well I'm sure you know the end to this story...I found the Lavinia wolf! (it was, of course, clear, and stuck to an acrylic block, so hard to see!) Thanks for your visit, have a great week and stay safe! Lindart #28

Your journal pages are such a delight, is it Alex that photographs you when you are swimming? Happy WOYWW and have a great week Angela #6

Your journal pages are filling up nicely, Caro. Well done, swimming every month - that's quite an achievement. Lovely photos of Alex's birthday - what an explosive cake! Beautiful spring blossoms, too. Thank you for your visit and I'm glad you enjoyed my various bits and pieces this week. I've started sewing the cat faces and paw prints onto the squares now and it's starting to look good. It's a bit frustrating having to wait for my hubby to be out, or busy elsewhere in the house, but the project is looking a lot less generic now and he's bound to spot all those kitties!

Happy WOYWW and God bless,

Hi Caro. Glad Alex enjoyed his birthday, it looked/ sounded brilliant. I remember him from years ago, think before he started school! Time flies.
Lovely journal. Happy memories. Well done re the swimming.
Your mention of OSCE exams brought back memories too - of Matthew taking them. He worried so much re all exams, but I think his final year one's were nail biting, for us never mind him. :-) As always though he passed with flying colours! He has now been a consultant for l5 years. Can't believe how time has gone. Have a lovely week. Anne x 29

Oh the thrill of a brilliant bike, just look at him, he’s so enjoying himself, wonderful photos. I love your swimming stats Caro, truly impressive. Your writing in the journal is small, you’ve obviously had a lot to say. Well, I mean, you never seem to sit and do nothing, so I KNOW you have a lot to record. Glad the general feeling was of safety at the exams, I think it really makes a difference, I agree too, it must have been lovely to see people!

Fab birthday celebrations for your "young man" - where did those years go!! I bet it was lovely to have a "normal" day at work. We will be losing our social skills if we don't get back to mixing with others properly soon. I love your little diary - you do so well at keeping it going. That blossom just lifts your spirits doesn't it. xxx Jo

Hi Caro,
Your journal pages look great. Alex’s birthday seems to have been a great success. I love that ear to ear grin! I’m glad you were able to do some face to face work. It’s been so strange for us all.

What a super birthday. Is that a mine craft card? Loving Alex's t-shirt, can't quite read it all but I get the gist. Love your green card too and your journal is brill. I'm going to church on Sunday so that will be novel, did go to an Alpha evening the week before last too, so nice to see and chat to people. Not sure I'd be comfortable taking any test though, took the nurse 20mins plus and me in tears to get me tested before my operation last Summer. Not sure she did the throat thing enough even on third try but she compensated with the nose which was outrageously painful! It doesn't bear thinking about for me. Thanks for the visit BJ#5
