WOYWW 600

600!  Yes, you read that number correctly - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday has been going strong for 600 weeks thanks to Julia, our amazing founder and Queen Desker, aided and abetted by Jan.

So I want to apologise that yet again life got in the way of commenting last week - I promise I will do better this week for the anniversary. This is my desk as it was at the weekend (it has been empty since then apart from work) when I was messing around with watercolours.  You can see my trusty mug of tea in the background, some stamps and ink left over from Christmas card making, various water brushes, pens, pencils and rubbers etc.

This is the final watercolour - me in the lake in Crookes Valley Park in Sheffield, one of my regular swimming haunts. The University of Sheffield Arts Tower is in the background.

I have also managed to complete my Christmas cards for posting this year with several of each of these designs (the Robin was inspired by Cindy).

Alex had a staff inset day this week so we put up our decorations nice and early while listening to cheesy Christmas music and dancing round the sitting room to get us in the mood.  All good fun!

I have been swimming this week - I managed 18 swims in November (8,100m in total) and swam my first ever December swim last night, at Crookes Valley Park, Sheffield.  This is what the lake looked like when I got out!  That is all from me for now. I am looking forward to seeing some of you on the zoom calls on Saturday.

Take care and stay safe,

With love & God Bless,
Caro

Happy 600! It’s been such fun to get to know you over the years, I hope that we meet on Saturday to catch up on all the news! Lovely decorations in the house, I’m going to get mine up on Thursday, it looks as if it’ll be raining all day so the perfect thing to do. I love the fact that you’re swimming but worry that you’re on your own in the dark - are there others there just in case?

Hi Caro. Goodness me - not content with swimming in the cold water... you now add swimming in the cold water at night! Obviously certifiably crazy... a bit like me really - not that I go swimming in warm water let alone cold...
However... Happy 600th. So glad I have had the opportunity to get to know you a little over the months and years. Maybe when all this craziness of viruses is over, and I can go off in my caravan again, I might get up your way sometime and we could maybe have a panad - a Welsh cuppa. It would be good.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Caro! Thanks for the credit bu I 'borrowed' the idea in the first place - and never thought to do a robin! He's so cute I may have to steal that one right back when I start to make next year's cards. I was wondering if you are still managing to get your swims in - you can barely get me in the shower never mind a lake at these temperatures! Happy 600th WOYWW, have a lovely week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy xx #30

What a lovely post - such a beautiful little watercolour painting (there's been a lot of watercolours going on this week), and gorgeous cards made - I particularly love the shaded bands with the stamping on top they are really eye catching. The Christmas decorations look so warm, cozy and festive and in complete contrast to the dark, wet and I'm imagining cold swim! You have my greatest admiration for braving that lake!!
Happy 600th anniversary,

It's been so long since I've been around, but I love your incredible cards. I also love how you have decorated your home. Glad to read that you are swimming, a great exercise, but hard to do in such cold weather. Happy 600th from #6.

Hi Caro, oooh I think I may have to copy your/Cindy's Robin for some quick Christmas cards! My decorations will hopefully be going up this weekend - time permitting between the crop and everything else I have on the go at the moment. We too will have the cheesy Christmas music on, and I'll be singing along, probably out of tune! You are a brave lady swimming in the cold/dark. Not something for me! Happy 600th WOYWW and have a lovely week, Heather xx #25

Wow Caro, you are living proof that no matter how busy, you can make time for more. Well done on the swimming, it’s really a remarkable thing...I bet you were surprised when you saw quite how dark it was when you’d finished swimming! Your Christmas decks are just lovely, how fun...there’s not much cheesy Christmas music that I don’t like!

Love your swimming picture and the festive ones!
I used to live above Crookes Valley Park when I was at Sheffield University in the early 70s.
As a newbie to WOYWW - only 25 desks - I am so impressed that you have all reached 600!
Happy 600th WOYWW! It was lovely to meet up with some on the deskers at the morning chat!
