WOYWW 646 (maybe?!)

Welcome back to my blog for another edition of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday - as I don't have a clue what actual number it is, the title is my best guess! Apologies for missing in action the past few weeks, Alex and I have both been ill - not with covid fortunately, but with the rather nasty fluey bug that is going round. He is now fine, but I am still unable to talk without coughing which is a problem for teaching - I have had to move all my uni lectures to next week in the hopes I will be able to deliver them then.  Anyway, enough of that... here is my desk!

As you can see I have actually been creative, sort of, for a change.  Tim bought me a set of pouring acrylics for my birthday and I have been playing/making a mess with them.  I have a silicon mat down to protect my desk, a straw, a palette knife, plastic cups for pouring, the paints and my cup of tea.

I have a lot to learn but I am having fun making a mess... so far we have an attempt at fire, the sea and some brightly coloured stripes!

I did manage to get in some beautiful group swims before getting ill - this is my favourite place out on the Derbyshire Moors. It is a beautiful walk across the moors to a disused reservoir where we swim.

I will leave you with this photo of Harry who fishes above the waterfall plunge pool where I sometimes swim.  I hope you are all keeping safe and well,

With love & God Bless,

Caro

Your acrylics look like fun to "lay" with. I hope your cough is better soon. It's a pain when you need to use your voice a lot - I always got a tickly cough just before Christmas school plays etc! xx Jo

Sorry you and Alex have been so poorly, hope you’re not he needs now - no swimming for a while! I love the colours of the acrylic pouring, it must be such fun to just the colours do their own thing!

Hi Caro, sorry you’ve been ill. Do you drink honey lemon and ginger tea! It’s very soothing for coughs. If you can manage to clear your chest with active breathing (https://www.ouh.nhs.uk/patient-guide/leaflets/files/11659Pbreathing.pdf) it’s less tiring. Hope you feel better soon!
Lovely swirls from your poured acrylics
Take care and happy WOYWW

Welcome back, Caro, and I'm so sorry to hear you've been poorly. I hope you will soon be back to normal and able to deliver your lectures without coughing! Your paint pouring is absolutely gorgeous. I've been really attracted by this, and a few months ago binge-watched loads of YouTube videos on it but have never taken courage into both hands and tried it - although I'm much less of a neat freak than I used to be, this is still a bit too messy for my comfort zone lol!

Thank you for your lovely comment and for your very kind words about my butterfly cards. It was a fun project to do, especially as stamping and colouring and die cutting are fairly unfamiliar ground for me. I've had several people interested in receiving the spare set but Lilian B pipped you all to the post I'm afraid, so the butterflies will be fluttering their way across the Atlantic Ocean to the USA in due course! They are still available on Amazon though. It's a very versatile set and I'm very pleased with it. One can never have enough butterflies!

So glad you enjoyed seeing the little ladies too - they are endless fun, and Lily really made me laugh with those socks!

Happy WOYWW and God bless,

Lovely to meet Harry. Sorry to hear you have been ill with flu or similar, luckily not Covid. Do take care. I had a Zoom meeting the other week and the Secretary had to give up and leave uks as she could not stop coughing.
Great pouring - something I have not tried yet - I have the things to do it, just keep chickening out.
Take care
