WOYWW 504

Wow, the final Wednesday of January already so it must be time for another What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) where we get to nosey round a variety of crafting desks.
Here is mine, still pretty neat, while I am updating my bullet journal.  On my desk you can see my journal, a Harry Potter sticker book, my kindle, some stamps, my tiny printer again, some stencils, paint water that really needs replacing and my nearly empty mug of tea.
I haven't had a huge amount of time for crafting this week, but I did complete this page in my art journal using up scraps that have been in my stash for 8 or more years!
We had a stunning sunset over the weekend that I just can't resist showing you (there is snow on the hills, but they are mostly hidden by the houses).  Update on Gran is that she was sent home from hospital with a chest infection and unable to breathe so she is now in respite care while they try and get that sorted out.  She is having physio and making slow but steady progress. However, she is scared to go home in case she can't cope overnight, so prayers for courage and wisdom as to when to go home would be good.
Have a great week everyone,
With love and God Bless,
Caro

WOYWW 503

Another week has flown by and it is time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW), the weekly snoop round each others crafting space.
My photo was actually taken last night as I knew that today my desk would be taken up with marking student exams (I can't show that on the internet) as I worked from home to hide from interruptions.  As it was last night I was working on my bullet journal and had used the stencil and ink and Harry Potter stickers on the page before the one that is on display, and I my little printer (in the white and pink case) was used for the photos.
I haven't had as much time for crafting this week as work and church life have intervened a little but I did make this page from scraps I have had lying around for years.
Needless to say that Alex was delighted with our little bit of snow at the weekend, he was just sad that it all melted so fast. It didn't stop him having a snowball fight with me - just look at that cheeky smile.  Gran is making steady progress and they are hoping to get her home by the end of the week - she is somewhat scared about how she will manage, but unless she tries she will never do it.  Prayers for courage are definitely needed please.
With love and God Bless,
Caro

WOYWW 502

Well I am back again for another edition of WOYWW.  My desk is still looking remarkably tidy even though I have used it for crafting.  On the desk you can see my bullet journal, a large mug of tea and to the left some piles of patterned papers and images that have been grouped together ready for use in my art journal.
I am currently joining in, when I have the time, with a challenge called 'useitupfillitup2' which is to use old stash in an art journal and create what you can in only 15 minutes each day. This is one of my more successful attempts using old scrapbook papers that I have had for years, and an image from Crafty Individuals.
This is another page in my journal using acrylic paints, stencils and a Dina Wakley stamp.
Thank you for your kind words about Gran.  She is still in hospital but the spine surgeon has decided not to operate and they are hoping to move her to the cottage hospital in Bridgewater for intensive physio soon.  I will keep you informed as to how she is doing, but in the meantime here is a picture of Alex cuddling a friend's puppy!  That's all for now. Have a great week everyone

WOYWW 501 (I think!)

Thank you all for your kind words regarding my Dad last week.  as most of you are here for WOYWW, I will get on with it! My desk is looking a little dull today... I am back at work and this was taken this morning while working from home so my laptop is out as I am responding to the hundreds of emails and preparing for teaching on Friday. To the right of my laptop is a refreshed mug of tea (essential to enable concentration), and to the left a pile of books (my art journal and my bullet journal) and some stickers that haven't been put away.
This is the storage unit that Tim bought me for my crafting things and although it has taken ages to sort everything into it I must say that I am loving having everything organised into specific labelled drawers.  I haven't yet optimised the placement of the drawers but it is working well so far and I am so happy with it - more desk space and less clutter as a result.  Mind you I do have a sneaking suspicion that there may be a box or two of crafting things still hiding in the attic so this may all change!
As a result of getting all set up I have actually managed to do a little art journaling as you can see here using up lots of old supplies.
Alex and I are now back at school and work respectively after having a fun week of outings including the panto, the cinema to see Mary Poppins Returns and to an indoor hoverboard park. It is a bit of a shock to the system to have to get up early and concentrate all day!
Finally I would appreciate prayers for my Gran, she is 94 and had a fall over Christmas and is now in hospital having discovered that she has a broken sacrum. She is in good spirits and appears to be well looked after but prayers for a full recovery would be most appreciated.
Thank you for your visit,
With love and God Bless

Happy New Year (WOYWW I'm back)

Firstly an apology for going AWOL recently, but we all had a massive shock when my beloved Dad died unexpectedly. He died of a massive stroke on 31 October, a few days after we had all seen him at my brothers, where he was on fine form, cracking his usual jokes. It was a horrible shock for us all and he is deeply missed. Needless to say I have been travelling a lot supporting my Mum, helping to organise the Memorial service etc, hence my long absence.
Anyway, onto why most of you are here...What's on your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW).  My work desk is actually really tidy at the moment as we have just had our study decorated and are rearranging everything to make it more usable. The new bright green paint has made the room feel much warmer and cosier than the dirty brown it was before and it is a joy having new carpet. The idea is that I will have more than a ten inch square to craft on and proper storage for all my crafting supplies so I no longer have a storage unit on my desk.
I am still unpacking so will show my new crafting storage at a later date, but here is the other side of my desk.  There is a definite Harry Potter theme among my various mugs!
Anyway, that is enough rambling from me for now. Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
God Bless,
Love
Caro

WOYWW487

I'm running a little late today on my weekly update to show you my desk, but better late than never.  If you don't know what I am talking about then head over to 'Head desker' Julia's blog for details.
Here is my desk in all its current chaos... I am trying to catch up with my journal hence the stickers, the journal, stamps and general mess everywhere.  Also on my desk are my watercolour crayons - they fell out of the tin and I now don't know what I have done with the tin! - my nearly empty mug and peeping from underneath the mess two new books to read and my prayer ministry team badge from the church weekend away.
Our church weekend away was absolutely fantastic.  116 of us went to Swanick where we had so much food, love, laughter, worship, food, hugs, table-tennis, food, tears, Jesus, healing, food, crafts, kites, joy and food (I won't need to eat for a week!). Adrian and Bridgett Plass were fantastic, both entertaining and deep at the same time and it was wonderful to see everyone from age 2-93 enjoying different aspects of the weekend and all getting on nicely.
The weather was very kind and so the kite making session was very popular, although there wasn't a great deal of wind for flying them!
I wasn't expecting large numbers for the crafting session I ran, but I ended up with 20 people in all ranging in age from 3-93 all decorating rocks and candles.  It was lovely to see the younger ones and the older ones interacting so well together.  That's all from me for now. Have a great week everyone.

WOYWW486

Late to the party tonight, but better late than never... I am here to offer my desk as part of the great crafting desk nosey that Julia hosts at her blog each Wednesday.
Here is my desk in relative chaos having just decorated a candle using some Christmas tissue paper and melting it onto the outside of the candle using my heat gun.  I haven't used this technique in a number of years, but at our church weekend away, this coming weekend, I have been roped into organising and running the crafts, one of which is decorating candles.  People are going to draw their designs on tissue paper and then I will melt them onto the candles so I needed a practice!  On my desk as well as the greaseproof paper, tissues, candle and heat gun, you can see my almost empty mug of tea, a packet of pez (a kind gift from Alex), a ruler and scissors.
Here is a close up of the candle - not bad for the first attempt in ages and I didnt scorch my fingers either!
In addition to decorating candles we are also going to be decorating pebbles so I have spent some time washing sand off pebbles and them priming them in white so that the pens and paint will show up nicely. There should be enough in this box I hope!
Here is my sample decorated pebble - I've not done this before so it was fun to play.... I can't get the photo to rotate sadly!  I am very much looking forward to this church weekend away - about 100 of us are going, all ages from 12 months old to 93 and Adrian & Bridgett Plass will be speaking which is very exciting.  I will report back how I get on with the crafts next week.  That's all from me for now... keeping it short and sweet this week.  Have a good week everyone.
Love
