It's Wednesday so time for me to show you my desk as part of WOYWW!  Don't know what I am talking about?  Julia has all the details.

This is my desk as it was on Tuesday evening - in the process of gathering together some crafting supplies for my holiday at the front of the desk - the rest of the desk is unchanged from last week. My travellers note book, pens, pencils, washi tape, glue, scissors, and my small printer and papers should keep me going for a week away.

This is my crafting for this rather busy and crazy week - index cards (and only 5 of them because I am running behind)

I will leave you with a few photos of Alex and I enjoying wild swimming in one of our local rivers where there is a lovely waterfall and a deep plunge pool for jumping into. 

This is my cooling off exercise after work each day at the moment.  I will be missing in action next week as I am off on my holidays so have a great week or so everyone and stay cool.

Well here we are again - time to show my desk to the world as part of Julia's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday phenomenon.

My desk is pretty empty again, apart from one very exciting looking present (more on that in a minute) - the pile of project life stuff is still sat to the side, and in fact apart from some very simple index cards I have failed to do any crafting this week - life has simply been too crazy busy.  Working full-time, running Messy church at the weekend, end of year activities/socials and the start of my new course have kept me very busy.

Anyway, back to that exciting present - it was a very unexpected and incredibly generous present from Debbie (Tatteredrocks).  Just look at that beautiful tag...

and inside was this beautiful shadow box picture!  I had admired the ones she provided for the 10th anniversary crop so much that she so kindly decided to make me my own.  I can't believe it!  I am beyond thrilled and will be finding somewhere special to put it up on the wall the moment I get a chance. Thank you so so much!

My own little works of creativity pale into insignificance, but just to proove I have done something creative this week here are my index cards as part of the Index Card a Day challenge (ICAD). Very simple for the most part this week as I have had so little time.
I am off out to my course tonight so wont be able to visit until Thursday I'm afraid, but I will do my best to visit everyone then. In the meantime have a lovely week.

Welcome back to another edition of What's on your workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW).  Don't know what I am talking about?  Check out Julia's blog as she is Queen Desker and has all the details.

My desk is very empty today as I was working from home yesterday so had to clear space for the laptop, and then went out to parents evening followed by another meeting so no time to play.  On my desk you can see the pile of project life stuff to the left - I still haven't found an appropriate storage solution for them so a pile is the way forward for now!  At the back you can see the pile of my latest ICADs - I have just about kept up so far - and to the right my trusty mug of tea (in need of a top up),  a to do list and pen, and my fit bit which needs charging and syncing. 

The only crafting that has been done this week is the index cards (ICAD) which are a wonderful mix of faith related and random cards made using collages, painting, stamping etc.  They had  to be quick ones this week as I have been so busy so each one has taken 10 minutes or less.

Alex has been creative this week - making box armour was his project of the week!

My main news of the week is that I have had my induction sessions to the School of Ministry here in Sheffield where I am doing a year long Foundation course to explore potential future roles in the church. There is one more induction evening next week before course starts in earnest in September and is evenings and weekends. At the present time becoming a Reader in the church of England is the plan, but God may have other ideas in mind - we will see what happens over the coming year. I am very excited and slightly nervous as studying theology is very different to science so prayers for this new adventure would be gratefully received.

Well it has been a crazy busy week and I nearly forgot that it was Wednesday already as I got back from a conference on Tuesday evening. Anyway, here we are again ready for a What's on your Workdesk Wednesday post. Check out our Queen Desker, Julia's blog for details.

This is my desk as it was on Tuesday evening - pretty empty in the middle, with the exception of the order of service from one of my closest friend's ordinations last Sunday, my latest index card, and then to the left the pile of project life things that says I have been using my new goodies (I will have to show the completed pages at a later date) and my kindle in its bright red cover.

Although there hasn't been a lot of time for crafting this week, I have managed to keep up with the Index card a day (ICAD) challenge and here are my cards for this week.  Confession time - the zentangle I drew during a talk at the conference to stop myself falling asleep!

Alex and I made the most of the gorgeous weather the weekend and went 'Wild Swimming' in a place called Little Barbrook (yes that is me in there!). 

It is literally in the middle of nowhere - you walk a mile down a track from the road across the moors, round a few corners and discover it just behind some trees. 

It was beautiful, if a little peaty (definitely came out smelling slightly swampy) and deliciously cold.
Alex put his new snorkel/mask to the test and although he couldn't see anything in the murky water loved the mask and said it was really easy to breathe in.

Sunday saw me supporting my best friend Abby at her ordination in Coventry Cathedral.  It was such a special occasion and so lovely to see her and her family.
That's all for now. July is going to be a bit crazy so I am not sure how much crafting time I will get but will do my best to continue to join in as much as possible.  Take care, Have a good week,

Happy Whizzday and welcome to another edition of what's on your workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) courtesy of Julia.

On my desk you can see a finished pocket page scrapbooking layout (if that is what they are called) - a new venture to me (sorry about the glare), my mug of rather anaemic tea (sweetly made by Alex - a little on the weak side but I'm not complaining), various stickers and project life postcards piled up to the left, spare photos, and a pen or two.

This week it was my 18th wedding anniversary and Tim very sweetly bought me a load of 'Project Life' related goodies to play with as my anniversary present.  I used to do traditional scrapbooking, but found it too time consuming for my hectic life style and so haven't done any in ages.  I have toyed with the idea of pocket page scrapbooking/project life style layouts for a while as it seems to meet my desire to journal and remember events with an easy system that will make it potentially a bit quicker, and so Tim bought me these lovely goodies to try.

This is the card I made for him using a background from Dina Wakley Collage collective for the heart, and then adding to it with my own drawing etc.

I have also managed to keep up with the Index Card a Day challenge (ICAD) so here are all mine for this week.

I have played with my new toys, but in the interest of keeping it short and sweet I will show you the layouts next week... instead, here is a photo from my wedding day 18 years ago.

P.S. Update on Gran - she is quite happy in the room she is in at Minehead, and has been doing some physio, but she confessed to me that she is ready to die and be with Jesus and really doesn't want to linger in this state. Until her wish is granted we are hoping she will move back closer to Mum to make things easier all round (it is a 60 minute drive for Mum (or any of Gran's friends) to get to Minehead and 5 hours from me). Prayers are always gratefully received.

Whizzday already!  How did that happen?!  I guess this means it is time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday with the queen of desks herself!  Check out Julia's blog  for the details on how to join in.

My desk is really quite tidy as I had finished for the evening when I took this picture and had tidied away all the inks, paints and brushos.  My trusty large mug of tea is empty and ready to be washed up.  The journal page is at that waiting for inspiration to strike stage - I love the colours, just don't know what I want to do with it next!

I did complete the page from last week as a reminder of the crop - the colours reminded me of the banner and the colours that many people were wearing so I went ahead with it using some things from the day and stamps that reflected thoughts from the day.

The other crafting from this week has been index cards as part of the 'Index Card a Day' (ICAD) challenge and I am posting one a day on Instagram.  These are the ones from the past week - I am keeping up with them so far! 

I will keep it relatively short and sweet and end with these photos of Alex from the Chesterfield Comic Con at the weekend.

Where has this week gone? It is time for another round of desk hopping and sharing the creative on-line love. Don't know what I am talking about?  Then head on over to Julia's blog and she will explain all.

My desk is relatively tidy -  just my trusty mug of tea (time for a top up) and my art journal.  I am not sure if I like the start of this page or not!  It is at that leave it and think about it stage...  In the background you can just about make out 4 WOYWW badges - these are spare so if anyone wants one please do email me (carostaton (at) gmail (dot) com) and I will post them out on a first come, first serve basis.

I had two more ATCs arrive this week from Kelly (left) and Sylvia (right), both lovely and very different to each other. The card at the top is from Kelly.

I also had two lovely memory bears made out of Dad's summer shirts from the lovely Annie - Alex has claimed his and mine is sat on my shelves. This time of year is especially hard - I doubt whether I will cope with the Father's Day service on Sunday.

At the moment my creative outlet is in decorating index cards as part of the ICAD (index card a day) challenge and here are mine from the last week or so. A complete random mixture of styles and fun.
Finally a brief update on Gran - she is much improved medically as they have sorted out her fluid and sodium levels and she is off the morphone, and she is starting physiotherapy.  However, I am not sure that she is mentally or emotionally up for the long hard struggle it will be to get back on her feet. Only time will tell - prayers for willingness to participate fully in physio would be gratefully received - at the moment she only does it when Mum is there bullying her into it!
