WOYWW542 (I think)
I am sorry I was missing in action last week but various aspects of my life caught up with me and it was Friday before I drew breath again! Anyway, here I am for this edition of Whats on Your Workdesk, the friendliest blog hop in the world, hosted by the lovely Julia. I missed you all last week so am looking forward to catching up with your news.
Here is my desk this week (as it was last night), mug of tea nearly finished and a journal page in progress... still don't really know where I am going with this one but am having fun finding out! There are some die cut butterflies made from gelliprint images, stamps of various sorts, pens etc.
By way of comparison this is what my desk looked like last week - mid sermon prep and assignment work pushed to one side. The only constant is the mug of tea! As you probably all know by now I work full-time as a University Lecturer (my subject is Cancer studies) but in my 'spare time' I am doing a school of ministry course as a precursor to potentially becoming a lay reader in the church of England. As a result I get the opportunity to preach occasionally in my local church and I have a number of assignments to do throughout the year. With both needing urgent work, this is why I was missing in action last week!

Not boring at all. The first thing that hits me when I come to visit is your lovely smile on the right and it takes me back to the last Crop when we got to meet up with you.
Lovely journal pages, I do like the colours you have chosen, it doesn't look as if there is much to do on it so hopefully you will get it finished soon.
Understandably your work and the course you are doing has to come first but i did miss you last week. Good to see you up and running again.

Lovely interesting post, Caro, and not a bit boring! The journal page is full of promise - I love those projects that almost make themselves, determining the direction as you go. A bit like life can be at times lol! Like you I was AWOL last week too, because life got in the way, one way or another. I didn’t know what your “day job” was - that sounds really interesting, especially to anyone who has had cancer as I have. I am sure you are enjoying your Reader’s course, and I am glad you are getting some preaching opportunities in the meantime. I know how much preparation goes into something that is over in a short time, because I spend many hours preparing each Bible study session that I lead, but my goodness, what one learns along the way...

I agree with Neet. Never boring. In fact, a constant wonder at how much you manage to fit in! I know we all say our crafting is a therapy and blahdy blah, but I expect for you it really is a good time to slow the brain down and just ‘be’ in the world of colours and pictures. Bet your sermons are terrific.
How lovely that you find a bit of time in your busy schedule to craft a little bit. I love your journal page. That is something I haven't done so far but I'm very curious about it!

You sound very busy with a full-time job, studying and a family (albeit a small one like mine) to look after. I'm surprised you find any time at all to be creative! I love the gelli printed butterflies - they'll look great on that page! You must be brave to talk to the students in a lecture hall and to the congregation in a church! Sermon prep! The story of my families lives, usually Friday afternoon.
Think I prefer making the butterflies, they are very pretty, I'll leave the sermon to someone else.

Snooping around desks is great fun, but I also love hearing about what people are up to in their lives, and how their families are, and seeing the photos you post of Alex and the rest of your family. Oh Caro, never boring.. I too was drawn by your wonderful kind smile when our paths first crossed at the stamping ground. You are indeed a busy lady, being a Mum is a full time job itself without the extension of a Full time lecturer and your studies. I'm sure you cherish your downtime and creativity, it's just as good for the soul. Loved seeing both desks, I too miss WoywW when I'm unable to drop by. Hi Caro, thank you so much for your return visit, and for the link - I listened with great interest! I found the reference to the key of David particularly interesting because I hadn't made that connection before. I loved hearing about your Gran, and the deeply moving story of the pastor witnessing to the young man. You are so right in what you said towards the end, that it is by our lives that we witness. I have always said that not everyone is called to be an evangelist, but we are all called to be witnesses! During my cancer year so many people remarked on how positive I was, and a few asked what my secret was, but in most cases it was easy to explain that it was because I had the Lord in my life. I have often experienced times when I've done something, or just been there, and not realised until later what the impact of my actions had been - God arranges these appointments, doesn't He! We just have to be available.
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to hear you - you have a wonderful speaking voice and excellent delivery and a really good message! It was also very interesting exploring your church's website a bit too - it looks very lively - funnily enough, our church is St. Luke's as well!! I pray that the Lord will use your gifts as you move forward and complete your course, and that you will have lots of opportunities in ministry.
Thank you also, so much, for your continuing prayers re my PIP assessment, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. It's not an easy time and it helps me to remember to focus on the Lord and not to worry about the outcome.
I'm so glad you like my slippers! I am very pleased with how they turned out, and I am wearing them at this moment! It's been a fun project to do, and something rather different.

Just remembered you asked for the name of the cleaning cloth I use. i couldn't remember and as it is now a delightful shade of black (still usable but doesn't seem to want to come clean) I couldn't see a name. Then this morning I had a lightbulb moment and thought Lawn Fawn. On looking it up I found it - it is the Lawn Fawn Stamp Shammy. Put that in Google and you should get somewhere to buy it from - mine came from Oyster but they have closed business now.https://www.craftstash.co.uk/lawn-fawn-stamp-shammy.html?

Ah Caro, I’m loving your journal page too, praying for you and your mum too as you sort out your dear Gran’s things, hard but a blessing to know she’s now in heaven free of pain of this world and by faith in the Lord Jesus you will see her again.
