WOYWW 552 - Happy New Year!

Firstly an apology that I failed so dismally to comment last week - illness and family got in the way, but I am back this week determined to do better.
Here is my desk as my entry to WOYWW - a new Tim Holtz glass mat in evidence (my Christmas present from Tim), a mug of tea, some new Scribble sticks (another present and I don't know how to use them at present!) and my diary. At the back of the desk you may spy a photograph - this is of my grandparents and was taken the year of their golden wedding (1997) and is one of my favourites of them - Grandad died less than a year later.
Thank you for all your concerned messages - the antibiotics have vastly improved things and although my throat is still bad and I tire easily, I can breathe more easily and have managed to sleep better since last week.
I made it to my in laws for Christmas day and even managed to eat a little.  We then had a very lazy Boxing Day to recover and get some energy together ready for the trip to Somerset to my Mum's.
We had a lovely time in Somerset, enjoying the mild weather
helping with the gardening (the boys driving the tractor),
some walks (I did the gentle, shorter versions),
a lovely Christmassy dinner party and trip to the theatre to see the musical version of the Railway Children.
If 2019 has taught me anything, it is that you never know what is going to happen and you should not take things for granted. It has been a year of adventure (trips, and a new Church course, preaching etc) and deep sadness (the death of Gran less than a year after Dad died), and through it all I have been loved and supported by family and friends and sustained by my faith.  Wishing you all a very Happy 2020. God bless you all,
With much love
Caro

Lovely family photos, Caro. The two of you look very fresh faced and I love the one with Alex and his cousins - beautiful boys! Glad to hear you got over the worst of the flu - it can't have been much fun especially at Christmas. Luckily we managed to avoid it so far. All the best for 2020! xx zsuzsa https://inkydinkydoodle.blogspot.com/2020/01/woyww-552-finished-advent-journal-2019.html

Hi Caro, and Happy New Year from us both. Fab pics from Somerset, looks lovely. Good to hear you are getting better, even if it feels slow. I treated myself to a Tim Holtz glass mat earlier in the year- well it's black, so I had to- but the only thing that irritates me is the glare on it from lights. When I do a blog post, I like to take step by step photos at my desk, and it's a nightmare trying to get images without the overhead lights showing up, or reflecting on the images.Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz X

Hi Caro, pleased to see you managed to have a good time despite everything. Loving the new TH Mat but just can't justify buying one yet but maybe when I finally move into the new cabin I might have an excuse to get one. Hope your New Year is a happy and healthy one. Hugs, Angela xXx

I'm glad to hear you are on the mend, Caro. Rotten timing to get so ill but I'm pleased you were well enough to join in the festivities. What a lovely lot of family photos! It's a time to remember those who have gone and it's tinged with sadness. You and I are quits - both got Tim Holtz glass media mats for Christmas from our hubbies!!! I'm loving my mat so far. I so agree with what you say about not taking things for granted, and not knowing what's around the next corner. How could I have known during Christmas 2014 that less than a month later, I'd be diagnosed with cancer? It's probably a good thing we don't know!! Thank you for your visit. I can understand that cutting machines aren't for everybody. It involves more steps to get the result you want but the flip side is that you can customise absolutely everything and make your own designs. Yes, they are expensive, but if you do a lot, you can end up spending more in the long run on dies, and also you've got to store them somewhere! Swings and roundabouts really. I have some dies and it's quick and convenient to get the Cuttlebug out for certain things. It depends on the circumstances really. So glad you like my friend's card! I phoned her today and said she should get it tomorrow. Thank you for all YOUR support and prayers during the past year - so much appreciated! They were answered, praise God!

Every blessing and lots of hugs for 2020 - Happy New Year!

Hi Caro take gentle steps to recovery and never worry about missing comments, life really is too short to stress about the small things.
Looks like you had a super Christmas, all sat around the table looks quite magical. Enjoy your crafty goodies, you'll soon be making your mark with the scribble sticks, wet or dry they are fab to play and great to take on travels.
Happy New Year to you and the family, wishing you the best of everything in 2020. Hugs Tracey xx

Hi Caro, yes 2019 was a year of lessons to me, to wait on Lord and accept that what He sent is His choice if not mine so best for me. Resting in the Lord is not easy.
Now you’re the proud owner of a Tim mat.
I’ve a birthday next month and looking at getting a glass mat.

The white palette on the side? What’s it made of glass..?
I know it has a sticky cover over it of some sort but it’s the palette that I’m interested in, is it white glass or something else .. going to ask tomorrow for comments on any media glass mats .. Tonic or other ones, or Tims as it’s big purchase ..or is for me!!?
Happy very belated WOYWW. Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially good health in 2020.
Hugs, Shaz in Oz.x #2 kinda! 😊
