WOYWW 554

It is Wednesday and time for another blog hop around some lovely crafting desks courtesy of Julia and WOYWW.
Here is my desk as it was on Tuesday night - a nearly finished journal page, a nearly finished mug of tea, acrylic paints, brushos, gesso, water spray bottle, baby wipes, stabilo all pencil. and Tim Holtz paper dolls and ephemera all on my desk.
This was a quick journal page as I had got into a bit of a crafting rut, getting put off by the blank pages of my new journal so I challenged myself to put something together in less than 10 minutes and this was the result! I used two scraps of paper, gesso (one colour), dark grey acrylic paint, gesso, black pen and stabilo all black pencil and a Tim Hotlz paper doll. The paint and gesso were applied using finger painting - so satisfying and deliberately messy.  It was definitely a releasing type of page and different from my usual controlled style.
Alex is also being creative at the moment - if I get permission I will share one of his drawing next week. In the meantime here he is painting some Orks!
For those of you who were asking, I am over the worst of my pneumonia and am back to work, but tire easily so had to go to bed on Friday afternoon to recover from the week. Hopefully I wont need to do that this week!  Take care of yourselves everyone and have a good week.
With love and God Bless,
Caro

It will take its time for you to get over the pneumonia. If you need to rest please do it, your body knows best.
Like your journal page, you have given me an idea that I should use some of the things that are left out on my desk and see what I can do with them - need a new journal to do that in as `I like my journal to have a theme.
Good to see Alex is following in your footsteps by being artistic.
Take care and God Bless

Well Caro, I hope you’re stamina rebuilds quickly, but like I said to Twiglet, you need lots of early nights and to forgive yourself and not be surprised when you are tired. It takes a lot of getting over. I LOVE your ten minute page, all that loose ink and the sepia doll. I’ve looked at those TH dolls several times and wondered how they might be used, it’s the perfect foil for those loose colours and torn edges! Isn’t fab to see your child concentrating and ‘lost’ in their thing...I love it, a great pic of your growing up boy!

I love the pink/grey colours combined in your journal page! So glad you are feeling better but it is so easy to overdo it - give in to the urge and rest plenty!! xx Jo

Make sure you don't overdo things; pneumonia is nasty. I've also realised that it takes longer to get over stuff the older you get! Look after yourself. xx

I really love your journal page. I sometimes need to push myself out of my rut too. Thanks for visiting my desk already!

That journal page is brilliant - I love the loose style of it. Doesn't it go to show that sometimes when we overthink things, the results show it? Lovely pic of Alex too!!

So glad to hear you are on the mend, Caro. It's important when getting over any viral infection not to do too much but allow yourself time to recover fully, as I am sure you are aware!! I love your journal page. The little dancing girl is adorable! Very 1920s. As for the photo of Alex, that is a study in concentration and being totally absorbed! I hope we will be able to see some of his creations in due course.

Thank you for your lovely and supportive comment. A lot of my problems are due to me not taking my own advice not to overdo things lol!! I always get payback... I'm feeling headachy and unfocused again today and really wanted to spend time in my studio - I want to get on top of the card projectd and start experimenting with my cutting machine again.

So glad you enjoyed seeing the flower book, and Ruby being a dormouse! Thank you for all your good wishes, and especially for your prayers - always appreciated! I think of you (and other Christian friends) with gratitude whenever I think about my PIP award. I read some appalling statistics this morning about how many people are being turned down, so I consider myself doubly blessed.

Happy WOYWW and God bless,

Wow! Take it easy! Rest more!

Love you picture of Alex! I think I have some similar ones of my son at that age. They grow up so, so fast!

Also love seeing how you embrace you journaling. I got mine out, but still empty.

Don’t push yourself. You don’t want a relapse and be down longer. I know it’s hard...

Happy Wednesday!

I'm not sure I could get as much done in 10 minutes, Caro. And tiring easily is to be expected when recovering from pneumonia. It took me the best part of a year to regain full energy so take it easy and rest up as often as possible. Hugs, Elizabeth x #18

Thanks for the visit Caro..I like your 10 min collage and pretty background. Something fun to try. I do hope you improve and rest is good for you. One wears out quickly from that stuff. December was totally bad here, but doing somewhat the same with rest, I still tire easily. Love seeing your son being creative, I miss my 2 hanging around with projects. Enjoy as once they leave home these moments are gone.

Love what you did with that 10 minute journal page. I can so relate to that feeling of creative paralysis - sometimes you just have to push yourself in at the deep end and get messy!
Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest - pneumonia is no laughing matter.
