Apologies

Firstly, my apologies for not updating on Wednesday, but this week has been rather a difficult one. My poor Gran (pictured here in March) has ended up in hospital suffering from dehydration with an associated risk of renal failure, an infected pressure sore and possible dislocated hip following a rather harrowing ordeal. I have spoken to her twice since she went into hospital and she is tired, but relieved to be being looked after properly. At the same time I had to spend the day in Birmingham on Tuesday talking to some experts in my field and giving an invited seminar which was well received, but meant I didn’t get back here until late on Tuesday evening. Work is chaotic at the moment with three different papers having come back requiring revisions in order for them to be published, another grant to write and more experiments to complete, not to mention lots of students to supervise! Alex in the meantime has been the greatest of fun. He is learning the days of the week at the moment, but has been known to burst into tears when we have tried to tell him it is Wednesday not Saturday! He is a funny little monster who chats away non-stop these days. He wakes up before us in the mornings and sits happily in his cot chatting to his teddies, telling them stories. As we get up we hear exclamations of ‘Oh no it’s a grufflo’ and ‘no no no effelant’ (phrases from his favourite books) coming from his room. He is into dancing and singing in a major way too and will try and sing all sorts of different nursery rhymes while dancing around. His other current interest is in jumping…he will shout ‘JUMP’ and then jump on the spot…it is very funny to watch. Despite everything I have managed a little crafting this week. I made a get well card for Gran following this weeks sketch saturday challenge, and as I used my Cuttlebug to cut the ovals it fits this weeks cute card Thursday challenge. I also incorporated 5 flowers and 5 pearl beads so it fits with the Daring Card Makers challenge as well. The papers I used are K&Co and the image is from a Joanna Sheen CD. This is Alex’s card for Gran…he had a great time drawing and sticking and loved turning the handle of the cuttlebug to cut out the image. Finally, this is my latest scrapbook page full of photos taken when my parents were here in March. I couldn’t decide on background papers for this one so chose to use a doodling stencil from Scrapbook inspirations instead. The little piece of background paper I did use was a freebie from another magazine. The embellishment stickers are from a Basic Grey kit as is the title sticker. The title reads ‘Laugh with Grandma’ and the journaling reads ‘Alex and Grandma have so much fun when they are together – I am not sure which of them likes the games the most!’. I hope you all have a great weekend.
Love,
Caro
