Bank Holiday weekend

I love Bank Holidays! It is so nice to get to the end of Sunday and to know that there is another whole day before I have to start work again. We have had a lovely weekend. On Saturday we went shopping in the morning and Alex was a complete star until it came to going home which he didn't want to do! Then in the afternoon we went to the park and Alex discovered a little broken down wall that he could climb and loved it.
We also had a go at making flapjack, Alex's favourite biscuit. It was very funny because as fast as I put the mixture in the tin, he would take great spoonfuls out and eat it!
On Sunday morning we went to the Highland Fling, which is an outdoor fair at Graves Park Sheffield. As Tim came with us we could only stay for a little while but we all loved seeing the amazing mountain bikers, the dog display team, the kid marshall arts team and the highland cattle.
The cows were definitely a big hit with Alex.
We also gave Alex his first ever go on a bouncy castle and he loved it. Sitting and giggling away then throwing himself across the castle with loud squeals and shouts of 'crash' and 'bounce'. It was a definite success!
In the afternoon we went back to the park where he played on every bit of apparatus, and played with his friend Chloe. This morning I cleaned the house and then did some weeding while Alex played in the garden. It was a miserable day weather wise..grey and threatening rain for most of the day. This afternoon it was raining and I didn't fancy getting soaked so we played with cars, lorries, trucks, diggers, trains, pens and stickers inside while trying to keep quiet enough for Tim to have his nap. My nature photo for the weekend is of the blossom on the Cherry tree outside our front door. It is beautiful at this time of year. I have managed to do a little scrapbooking this weekend which was great. The first layout is based on a Pencil lines sketch from Christmas with the photos in the shape of a Christmas tree. I thought that this was a great idea for doing a complete set of family photos from when we went to my parents. The title is 'Christmas Joy' and the journalling reads 'We had a lovely Christmas Day at Barr with everyone. We exchanged lots of smaller presents and the boys were thoroughly spoilt. Alex managed to enjoy himself despite being ill. Christmas day 2008'. I used Penny Black, K&Co and Bazzill papers/cardstock and papermania Christmas stickers. The second page followed this weeks 'recipe' from 'How much is too much' scrapbook challenge site. I have never followed one of their challenges as they are always really difficult. This one was called 9 to 5 and you had to use a minimum of 5 photos, 6 different papers, 7 letter stickers, 8 brads and at least 9 words in your journalling. I got the idea for the arrangement of the photos from one of the examples on the blog, but the rest of the layout is my own design. 2 of my 8 brads are swirls int he corners. The title of this is 'Football game' and the journalling reads 'Everyone enjoyed the fun of the football game on Alex's 2nd Birthday'.
The final page followed this weeks sketch from Pencil Lines (#133). I used Doodle bug, American Crafts and Bazzil cardstock/papers and brads from Hot off the Press. The title is 'Fun with Bubbles' and the journalling reads 'The boys had a wonderful tim playing with bubbles on Alex's 2nd Birthday. The bubble machine worked overtime, but everyone also wanted a go at blowing bubbles themselves - Alex emptied his mixture everywhere. I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend and have a great week.
Love,
Caro

Looks as if you had a great time and wow what a great picture of the cattle complete with horns (reminds me of that lovely toffee you used to be able to buy).

Alex looks as if he's having a great time.

Brill pages - the first layout is my favourite, I like how you've arranged the images and words.
